Are you a "fashionista" or a "uniform dresser"?

I can't walk in heels either. I hate them.

I am now definitely more of a uniform dresser most of the time. Lots of earth tones, jeans, khakis, and mix and match tops. Back when I had to report to the office everyday, I was much more of a fashionista. Now that I telework much of the time, I am totally into comfort. However, I do hope to bring the fashionista back during the summer months. I love to be more colorful and frilly in warm weather!!

I've always wanted to be a fashionista but alas, I gotta say I'm a uniform dresser. My sister in law on the other hand, is a major fashionista. She mixes and matches and always finds the most amazing clothes. I've always looked up to her even tho she's younger than me and my little brothers wife. (don't know if this counts in other cultures but I'm Asian) I always ask her before I buy anything. I realized my mom too, she'll see my sister in law wearing something and a couple days later, she has almost the same one! And she acts so nonchalant about it! Haha my mom...

My colleagues make fun of me because of my "double shoe" days. I wear flats when I'm walking from my car to the office, or from the office to lunch. But when I'm in the office building I switch to heels. No way could I walk 20 minutes in heels on uneven brick sidewalks. I. Would. Fall. On. My. Bum.

I'm neither. I like to dress smartly but I try not to be trendy and I put comfort above most else though I like to look good as well. I just won't sacrifice comfort for fashion. To that end I never wear high heels because if your feet aren't comfortable you won't be either. I might be one of the only brides I know who wore flats on her wedding day. But I was the only bride I know who was able to dance the whole evening away without a blister or any discomfort at all.

My style is more eclectic than anything I think. I never wear shorts and I rarely wear jeans and I love skirts and dresses and long flowy tops with skinny pants. Black is my favorite color in clothes and then charcoal gray and any kind of blue. I love blue. And I love expensive boots. And wear them as much as I can until the weather hits about 75 F or so. :cheeky:

HI:

I really mix it up. I love classic white blouses, black skirts and slacks, pumps or slight wedge heel. Next day could be skinny jeans or cammo capris and lace up boots and a Hermes scarf in my hair. I am a bit of a label hound--certain brands fit me and I buy them over and over b/c of that.

cheers--Sharon

I *TRY* to be a fashionista. I have more clothes than can fit in my closet, under my bed, and in all my dressers. (I just made myself clean out 3 trash bags full of clothes this past weekend to donate). I buy a bunch of crap. Yet, I always end up wearing the same 5 outfits, every single day. I like having a bunch of options, but I never go for it. I like dressing for comfort. And I always wear the same neutral colors. Oh well.

I'm a "comfort" dresser. I need my clothes to be comfy and cozy and the same applies for shoes. I actually enjoy being undersdressed. Going out becomes too stressful when I know that I have to dressup and do the make up.
To work I wear mostly all kinds of short sleve sweaters/tops with dark blue pants (that might look like jeans, but they are not) and like to put on a long sweater in the office, just to make myself feel more cozy and less in the office environment.
I do like to pair it all with big diamonds :)

Uniform.

But I have to say I fairly stunned my landlord by dressing in something that actually fits and by grooming myself just before our meeting on the night of the 20th. He came down the stairs where I was sitting outside on a chair in front of small round table facing him as he did. He complimented my hair, my shirt, and said I looked good. LOL! I hate to say this but it really does make a huge difference in how people treat you based on how you are dressed.

I pulled out the stops for our meeting because it was our last of four planned payments dates, all met. I think he appreciated that. I'm glad I did it.

I would like to be "sartorialist" but that's way beyond me.

I hate labels.

Not clothing labels. People labels.

Just because I give a passing thought to my clothes, does not mean I fit a mold called "fashionista". I don't give enough of a damn.

Just because I have favorite pieces I turn to again and again, does not mean I like to wear a "uniform". I loathe conformity, uniformity, and general blandness in anything.

A fashionista cares too much. A uniformist says, "So what?"

The rest of us just get dressed . . . in whatever fits our lifestyle and makes us feel good.
