they were everywhere in the early 70''s.

We go to one in Dothan AL sometimes. They are few and far between. I used to go to one in Jacksonville too.

Here is a list of drive in theatres.

We do on the outskirts of San Diego in Santee and I think there''s one in South Bay. The Santee one, though, I hear can get kinda rowdy with people parking their trucks and drinking. I''ve gone a couple of times a long time there. I love drive ins, though and really miss having one nearby.

There is one still in the Kansas City area. I went there in high school with friends, it was fun!

The last one in this area of NC burned down a few years ago. It was rebuilt, and then the owner died. So that was the end of that.

I would like to go to one with SO, thanks for reminding me...

ETA: Here's a link to find local Drive-ins

There used to be one here in NC but it was just a labor of love for the owner of it. Everyone around loved it but it just didn''t bring in enough money. When the owner passed away, they had to close down the drive-in. Said it couldn''t stay open without someone buying it out and paying all the debts, and it''s been closed since. It was such a cool place to go too. Wonderful in the summer. Wish it was still open.

Yes! There is one about 10 minutes from my house. We always go and see one evening showing there per year. This year we saw Wall-E and also, for the first time, stayed for the second show which was Get Smart. We didn''t get out of there until 2 am.

I hate to say it, but drive-ins are kind of filled with an odd bunch of people, kind of a lot of ''riff raff.'' Some people were smoking,

, and others had snuck in beer, and worse yet, there was a guy who parked his hummer high up and blocked about five or six cars!

nope..all gone.

Well - not drive in, but outdoors ... at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery: http://cinespia.org/

During the summer, movies are screened at the cemetery. Hundreds of people come armed with beach chairs and picnics to view films projected onto the side of one of the buildings.

We have one relatively close. It still has the speakers that you hook on your car window and the hump that you drive up on so you''re angled upward to see the screen.

No, not anymore, but they used to be everywhere in the 60''s and 70''s. My high school boyfriend and I used to go to them and "make out", tee hee.

In my hometown, there is one about 20 mins away in another small town. It's SO MUCH FUN - when I was in HS and when I was home from college in the summer, we'd go before the movie and grill dinner, make huge bags of popcorn, and curl up with lots of blankets in the back of somebody's truck. Ahhh, I love how midwestern that sounds. And, my parents would soooo get cool awards when I was in elementary or jr high school if they took a friend and me there during a sleepover. It's totally the big thing for about a 30 mile radius and has been forever. If you say "the drive-in" in Central IL, everyone knows where you mean.

I wonder if there's one around where I live now...

ETA: SCORE! There's one in Maquoketa (if you're not from IA, try pronouncing that one, haha). Thanks for the link, Trillionaire!

I know there''s two within the DC metro area (one near Baltimore...another in VA somewhere I think I read recently), but I''ve gone to neither yet. It''s on the list of things to do.

There is one 50 miles away from us but we haven''t gone there yet. I think it would be fun.

Nope, I haven''t seen one.

None in my area. I wish we did, that would be fun!!!

Yes! I actually took my FF to his very first one 2 weeks ago! I went all the time as a kid because the drive-in was right behind my softball diamond, so it was fun to take him to his first one. We had a great time, I love drive-ins!

Swap Shop Drive-In

My Fi used to take me there all the time on dates. It was $2 per person. We would stop by and get a bunch of snacks and then watch a movie. So much fun.

We still go every once in a while. It''s now $4 per person
