i have found some appraisers but they are all part of jewelry stores.

Use the above link. You may find a qualified appraiser there. I am not personally aware if the resulting appraisers work in retail stores or operate independently....

This link will access most NAJA members by state. A few have not opted into the system, but probably 650 are there. Most are connected to retail firms, but the main body of independent appraisers are members of NAJA. It is the largest "Jewelry only" appraisal organization in the USA.
