I was reading that apartment therapy (way into the archives) and saw them mentioning this Tempaper product a lot. Temporary wallpaper. I can't hang stuff on my walls otherwise I'd try to tack wallpaper up. But this sounds like vinyl or something. I ordered a sample of the pattern I love, which is the honey jade marrakesh one, and Im going to see if it works on my walls. If so I might order a roll. The area I was going to do is 4-5ft wide floor to ceiling, just behind my desk.

Never heard of it, Ame. So you can put it on & just pull it off again? Does it last if you decide not to take it down?

Supposedly yes, and it should be repositionable. Now since my walls are NOT smooth, Im not sure if it's sometihng worth doing. Right now Im debating finding a stencil or something and painting.

That's just what I've been thinking about for the master bathroom. It's still in its '90s style; haven't gotten around to re-doing it since we bought this house but I'm out of patience & gonna start. Have you heard of Designer Stencils? They have a ton of varieties & really neat: http://www.designerstencils.com/.

My walls aren't smooth either. I also want to put the house on the market in a year or so & realtors say buyers don't like wallpaper, too hard to get off -- which is why I asked about the Tempaper. It's a great possibility.

I was just looking at the stencil site earlier. I don't know how much work that would be. I definitely want something on this wall, even though DH thinks it's a total waste of money and effort. The white walls in this house are making me nuts.

White walls get annoying after a while, kind of close you in, imo. The amount of work w/stenciling makes me hesitate too. I'm thinking of maybe doing a border around the ceiling or possibly just cover one wall with stencils. An entire room would take me years at the rate I work! :D

I was thinking about a 4 feet wide span, floor to ceiling.

How does it look, Ame? Any chance we can see pics?
I was looking at apartment therapy as well and stumbled across Sway Paper, which is also temporary, reusable.
We just bought an old house and are doing renovations...I'm wanting to do one of the walls in the master and one of the guest room...maybe. I wish I could just hire Enerchi to do the whole house, but alas, small budgets are always limiting me!

i am still waiting for that sample to test out. DH is not interested in this idea I have! lol

Buyers DON'T like wallpaper. But if you're in a hot enough market, you might be able to get away with it.

<----- Recent buyer who spent 50+ hours scraping 35-year old wallpaper from the kitchen walls and still has a bathroom to do. But we loved the rest of the house so much, and the market here is cah-ray-zee. Tempaper sounds fantastic to me!

Wherever you are, Octavia, I wish I were there! The market here is not quite frozen solid anymore but still pretty cool. We also live in the 7th fastest-growing county in the country, which means builders are still building, despite the r.e. downturn. Buyers can find alternatives to anything anyone offers, groan! The one decelerator on supply is that so many homeowners are holding off for better times, so re-sale houses aren't as plentiful. Also this small town was named this year as having the best schools in the state, big help. But to sell reasonably quickly, old houses have to be made practically brand-new. Scares me how much we'll have to sink into this one before trying to get rid of it. All my current re-decorating, though we don't have plans to move immediately, is done with some picky future buyer in mind!

Sorry about the late reply, I came across this post by accident. I have used Tempaper a few times and I love the stuff. The key is to follow directions and take a look the video tutorials before you start to learn the little tricks to make putting it up easier. I have never wallpapered before and it took me about an hour to do my small bedroom. Your walls need to be clean and be painted with a slight sheen. If your walls are matte, you won't have a problem putting it up, but when you are ready to take it down, paint may come off your walls. This info is on the site.
Tempaper can be as permanent as you want it to be and it will not arbitrarily start coming off your walls, I've had it in my bedroom for about 6 months with no signs of wear and I tested it out in my bathroom to see if the steam would have any effect -it didn`t.
Love this stuff, it makes wallpapering easy.
