Anyone in Houston?

Not sure if this is the best forum for my post, but we're relocating to Houston in a few months and are searching for a safe, affordable apartment. Something inside the loop would be best. My husband works on Post Oak Blvd, so something close by would be nice, but really anywhere within the loop, or in the Heights area will work. He'll be two weeks on/two weeks off shore in Trinidad for a few months once we get there, so safety is very important since I'll be there alone half of the time.

Any suggestions?

Hi les, I cannot offer you much help. I will say that the Heights area is nice. I live outside of the loop and the beltway, I like the 'burbs. I just wanted to say welcome to Houston, I hope you love it here. It's a wonderful city.

I'm in the burbs too. And unfortunately I don't know much about the area you're looking in. But welcome to the area anyway!

Awesome. 1. I am in Houston. 2. I'm from Trinidad.

There are some really nice places off of 59 and Weslayan. It would be easy to get to work and close to convenient things. Somewhere in the Galleria area would be nice as well, and really close to where he works. I think any of those places is more than safe enough. Have you tried an apartment locator?

Alexan apartments are always nice. There is an Alexan Post Oak. Welcome to Houston.

I'm in the 'burbs as well. But I think inside the loop would be fun for you. I'm sure there are some gated complexes. I have a friend who lives closer to downtown in a townhouse complex. It's wonderful and very secure.

Thanks for the welcome! I found a leasing agent who helped me narrow down my search. She was great! She sent a list of places friday, saturday we put down a deposit and yesterday we drove in to make sure it was the right decision and we LOVE our new apartment!! So it was a very very busy weekend. We're not moving until september but I am so relieved that we got it taken care of so quickly and easily! I'm excited to be in Houston, seems to be home to many friendly people
