My new obsession...we got 6 buff orpington chicks in March. When I went to the feed store, there was one easter egger chick left and my daughter talked me into taking her. She need up being a rooster. So I have 6 ladies and one roo. We ordered a coop online which ended up being a piece of crap, but was fine as a brooder. My hubby built our coop over a couple of weekends. I love my chickens! They are a good breed for pets and great layers. Hoping for eggs by October.....

Such a great coop! Your chickens are beautiful. We have a few neighbors that have chickens. I see them at the local hardware store sometimes. Thank you for sharing.

Oh my gosh, those chickens are adorable! This is so cool…that coop is outstanding, your husband did such a great job! Thanks for sharing soxfan. I can't wait for Missy to see this, she's going to love it!

We have guineas, raise between 50 and 100 every year (they love to eat ticks), we have about 30 +/- ducks of various breeds, a couple cows, a couple horses, and 3 dogs, one we just rescued this week :)

Wow! Your chickens, their coop and your yard looks beautiful! Great job on building the coop and the surrounding area.

Your son is adorable too! Looks like he loves his babies!

That is one heck of a coop you have there. Jeez Louise. Some dogs should be so lucky.

But yeah, I could own some chickens. I live rural and I like eggs in the morning.

That coop looks wonderful! Your husband did an amazinggg job!

We used to have a rooster and baby chicks when I was growing up... 8)

Just bumping this great thread!

I still have pet chickens, I've now gone over to mostly Silkies apart from a Polish Frizzle and a Cuckoo Pekin cross. My famous Jethro some Psers might remember went over the bridge back in 2012 age 7. But I couldn't be without some chickies and my oldest Silkie chicken, Enid, is now coming up to 8 years old. The others are noobs and are a few months old, just starting to lay.

Good job on the coop
