Anyone gotten a passport lately? Need help...

We are going to Cancun on September 10th. How long does it take to get a passport?

6-8 weeks, supposedly. You can pay to rush it, and get it in 2.

I make an appointment at my passport agency and get it the same day. To do that you need to be flying out within two weeks of the appointment and bring your tickets.

There is an additional fee (can't remember what it is) but i did it this way twice as I'm paranoid about sending important documents in the mail.

Depends where you live. Mine took less than 2 weeks, but we had the option of paying $20/passport so that the postal service could review them, and make sure there were no mistakes, and they guarantee they will be returned to us within the 2 weeks.

I got mine a year ago in Los Angeles in, I think, 3 days at a service that did it for, I think, $200 fee + all the government fees.

Shop around.

DH and I both got new ones last year. We didn''t rush them, but got them back in 2 weeks all the same. It surprised me how quickly they came back.

Ditto -- I got mine back in one week last year, I think it was about April. I didn''t pay for rush handling.

Your local post office might be able to give you an estimate, or see if you can call whatever agency you''d go to locally for rush handling.

we just got ours (Leaving next week) and it took 4 weeks for 5 passports

We went to our post office where they go over the application and process it for you. I didn't pay for expedited svcs

Amelia''s took only a couple of weeks. I was shocked at how fast the turnaround time was, but we applied in the off season.

Make sure you have the fees separately. One you have to pay to the post office, the other gets sent in the mail with your application. I believe the one going with the application can only be check or money order.

My BF and I just got ours done and it took exactly 4 weeks to get our stuff back. I was surprised that everything was done so quickly.
