Anyone Else Marching?

Must be nice to be so cavalier about the rights of your fellow citizens, Red. Your flippant attitude has been duly noted time and time again, so I've come to expect it. But you'd think that our President and his administration would be a bit more concerned with addressing the very legitimate fears of the country first and foremost. As always, naaaaahhhhhhhhh.

Have a nice day.

MY immediate "fears" do not revolve around who someone chooses to love; and FTR, that does NOT mean I don't care about them or that I 'oppose' them, mind you.

MY immediate concerns for our country and EVERY ONE of my fellow citizens are (first & foremost) national security and our economy. Without those, everything else we value (including our rights) is at risk of being eroded. To that point, I feel the administration IS focusing on the things they should be at this time.

I think it is more that I know most of the people I "argue/disagree" with don't wish me any ill will. Others I don't feel the same about. Maybe I am wrong about them but some just seem hateful.

Sorry for the derail VR. :wavey:

Curious but why were certain women's groups not included in the March?

Now I feel abortion is a deision between a woman and her doctor but shouldn't all women's opinions matter?

Or are only women who think as they do?

It is absolutely incredible to see photos of all the marches happening all over the country-- all over the world. My closest major city had 17k last count (we left a couple of hours ago and the streets were still packed), and last I heard they were estimating DC at 500,000? It was so big, they couldn't march the intended route. Comparison cam time!

I'll get these out of the way now: it's the weekend, libs don't have jobs, women have more free time, fake news, better weather, etc. Did I miss anything? I know it has absolutely nothing to do with an incredibly unpopular president.

Fun fact: Apparently, the Women's March in DC is the largest inauguration protest march in history!

I don't recall seeing anything exclusionary or that would prevent a person from joining in the march in support of whatever cause(s) he or she found worthy.

You know it has to chap Trump's ass watching all of this. I'm so glad he has enough grace to learn from it. How can I reach out to these women? To better address their needs as their president?

 I responded to your post (about the WH.gov page) to explain the reason for the policy removal; trying to be helpful, and with ZERO arrogance or sarcasm; you might consider trying it sometime.

And I hate to burst your self-inflated bubble, you don't occupy real estate in my head; but it's kind of amusing that you think you do. :wavey:

We marched in Seattle today! It was incredible - YUGE turnout! 150k estimated, 100% peaceful, what a sense of unity. I suppose we can thank the Gilded Gargoyle for bringing us together in a way that will make the history books. It was a great day.

Actually we had some anti-choice pro forced-birthers at our march. There were like 3 of them, they were hanging out with this one religious dude screaming at us and waving signs with fake pics of "aborted fetuses". We enveloped them with our cheerful vibe of peace and love.

ETA - I'm not even being sarcastic, it's true, they were there by the library screaming like loons lol. But they were there, had as much access to the march as anyone. Not my concern why only 3 showed up, they were able just not willing I guess. Don't care.

Missy and I were posting at the same time -- great minds think alike!

Went to Portland ME, it was wonderful - but left fairly early due to my teeth!

Peace. Love. And Women power!

I totally  this thread. Wish I could've been at one of these marches.

Elliott, Did Pence really say this? Please tell me this is a flipping joke!!!

And this proves my point Eliot.

No, it proves that The Onion is satire and people either read it in the manner it is intended or they don't and do their own research. Just like literally every cartoon or satiric piece ever written.

That is a cop out and doesn't hold water with the short attention span populous at large today. It would be nice if that were the case but it is not.

People please know that The Onion is satirical and every quote on it is most likely a lie.

That is why I HATE infowars.com.. it posts lies and fake news and its' not even satire.. People BELIEVE what Jones says.. sad. Onion says it is satire..

Pro life women should be welcomed if they were there in support of Pro choice women who don't support pro life Trump.. If pro life women were there with signs saying Prolife but pro women! or pro life but against RAPE !!! I see no reason why they should be not allowed into the group. Although usually pro life women aren't known to be pro women, not to say they aren't but often the espouse traditional 1950s women details.. not all but some.

Maybe we walked by each other and didn't even know it.

I was so glued to the computer yesterday that I completely missed the scope of the demonstrations. Only the television news, which I caught up with late at night, showed the truly awesome proportions of the demonstrations. Over 500,000 people in Washington, DC! More than double the number of people expected and more than at any other post-Inaugural demonstration, including Nixon's in 1973. Scheduled speakers, like Cher, could not get through the crowds to reach the podium to speak!

The Los Angeles demonstration was even larger than the one in Washington. It may have been as many as 700,000 people, and no one expected it to be anything except a small gathering. The people are just poring into the streets. I haven't seen anything like since since the protests against the Vietnam War got rolling after President Nixon extended the war into Cambodia. See the movie "All The President's men" to get a taste for how the pressure from the people grew on Nixon.

As one commentator put it, the demonstrators in New York city were very peaceful. Many were families. The New York City Police were extremely relaxed throughout the peaceful march, despite its huge size. The people marching did not expect to unseat Donald Trump as president, but they wanted to be on the record for their opposition to him; for their willingness to work for the 2018 elections; and for the cabinet members now seeking appointment to know that if they step out of line that a huge group can be mobilized at a moment's notice.
