Today the DH and I celebrate 11 years of marriage and 16 years of togetherness! A new gastro pub opened downtown, no sitter so we will be bringing it home and then probably playing a game or doing a puzzle together after the kids are in bed. I know, we sound so old ;)

Wondering if there is anyone else out there celebrating an anniversary today? If so what are your plans?

Congrats! We celebrated 15 years in December. We also stayed low key. My birthday is 4 days after so we went out then (Nothing says I love you like hole in the wall mexican.... . Margaritas were mind blowing though)

Happy Anniversary Stephanilynn! :wavey:

No anniversary but we do have a birthday to celebrate today. She is my luck little girl...love her so much! We will be having
family over and eating Panda Express carry out (her favorite). She requested mud pie for her Birthday Cake so I'll have to put
that together today.

I feel so lucky to be her Mom!

Arcadian, Isn't Mexican the best? Happy belated anniversary and birthday! Fifteen years is amazing and takes work and dedication, here is to many more years of happiness for you guys!

tyty, Happy Birthday to your little girl! Panda Express and mud pie sounds delicious! It's so great just to have a low key night in.

Happy Anniversary!

Was getting married on St. Paddy's a coincidence or was it a special meaning for the two of you? Actually I should ask: do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Not everyone does!

The anniversary I am celebrating... is the anniversary of my Mom's birth! I feel a little bad because she's a little Italian lady who gets corned beef and cabbage for her birthday dinner, every year  But, she said she likes it

Happy Birthday to your mom! I do find the humor in the Italiam eating Irish on her birthday :D

Funny thing is we didn't really plan to get married on St. Patrick's day per se, we had been engaged five years, already owned a house and were just sick of everyone asking when the wedding was. So we rang up this B&B by the shore and the next available date for a wedding was March 17th! Small wedding, not expensive but we like low key.

I am Irish though so I do love a good corned beef but we will be doing wings tonight!

Your wedding sounds lovely :) I am a big fan of small, not expensive and low-key... did it myself!

Hope you enjoy your anniversary wings!

Happy anniversary!

What games do you and DH play? I was going to post in the game thread a while ago about what games might be good for just two people but lost track of the thread.

We have a few empty cubicles at work and there's a large (1000 piece puzzle) in the one for anyone who's interested. It's fun to see it come together. People generally only spend 10 minutes at a time on it so it'll usually take at least a few weeks to finish. I've thought about asking my husband if he'd do a puzzle with me but I have a sneaking suspicion it would drive a wedge instead of bringing us together.

Happy anniversary.

Today is the anniversary of when I brought my newborn baby girl home from the hospital....38 years ago.

Happy anniversary!

It will be 26 years for us at the end of the month.

Thanks Puppmom! Missy had a thread recently about what people's favorite games are, you would probably get some good ideas there:

We just got two new games, Thinkblot and Word Thief, we haven't had a chance to play them yet, we normally go for for card games, Scrabble or Monopoly. Really though we enjoy puzzles, I think it is super cool that they have one at your work, that's a really great idea. My husband is better at me at puzzles but I am better at cards and it drives him crazy that I win so much lol!

Siv, Happy Birthday to your daughter! She is exactly one month ahead of me, same year too! Gee, a lot of birthdays I've noticed today, that's pretty cool IMO. I hope she has a wonderful birthday and that you have a great time celebrating with her.

Redwood, that is an accomplishment! Happy early anniversary! Any big plans in the works to celebrate?

Thank you. No plans, maybe just dinner out. Last year was the big one.

I celebrated my husband and I's 21st anniversary last week, by going to work, taking dog on long walk, and hanging with kids on a Friday evening. Nice quiet day. Ex even texted me in the morning "Happy anniversary". To which I thought to myself, wtf (we are separated, may possibly get divorced next month).

I do know I'm getting better, because I feel good for other people's happy stories even if mine was not. And in retrospect the entire marriage was not bad (first 10 years were pretty good).

I'm so sorry that you have gone through some rough times but being able to be happy for other people is something a lot of people never get to and at least you can look back and see some happy times.

Congratulations, SL, happy Green anniversary to you and your sweetie! :appl:

Congratulations and happy anniversary to you and your DH, StephanieLynn!

I would like to play a game or do a puzzle with my DH, but he really isn't into doing either. He prefers group games and thinks puzzles are a waste of time because after finishing them you just throw them back in the box.

For our most recent anniversary, our chosen restaurant wasn't open that evening so we stayed home and watched a presidential debate ( :nono: , lol) and went to the restaurant a few days later. Luckily that won't be happening this year!

Thanks AZ! Funny thing I am so ignorant and out of the loop, it didn't occur to me what a big drinking day it is until I saw some friends pics on FB! We didn't drink, I would rather eat anyway :D

Mary poppins, thank you! I have said the same thing to my husband about puzzles but despite that it's just a good way to pass the time together, we always have the kids so we are basically stuck at night in the house. Group games are fun though, so I'm guessing your DH is an extrovert, extroverts just crave that energy they get from other people. Nothing wrong with a little politics on the anniversary if that's what you like but I do hope that you have a nice non political anniversary this year!
