Anyone Dye Their Own Shoes?

I am wondering how easy/hard it would be to dye your own shoes.

Is that what you have to do when you purchase dyeables online, or can you take them to a shoe place after you get them?

Admittedly, dyeing shoes does seem a bit prom-ish to me but

I was thinking of doing a dyeable in a very very subtle baby blue, to have my shoes be my "something blue"

It would be different, and a tad surprising under my fairly traditional gown

(fyi, my gown is long so shoes wouldn''t show that much)

I don''t think that this is a DIY effort. I had my wedding shoes dyed after the wedding (I had them dyed magenta to match another dress) I would recc''d taking them to a shoemaker.

There are actually some pretty nice dyable shoes out there- Jimmy Choo and Manolo make "dyeables" and if you dye them baby-blue for the wedding you can have them made a darker blue or black post-wedding.
