I''m going there is a little less than three weeks!
I''m looking for suggestions of places to see and eat. I''ll be there for three or four days (bf has the itinerary).
We''re also going to Vienna and Salzburg. I''ve been there before (albeit 15 years ago), but if anyone has suggestions for those places that would be great too!

Prague is just a great place for a wander. The "tourist" things are worth doing.

Go to the bridge. Check out the side of town on the other side of the bridge (I''m talking the the side with the castle). I''m not sure if the 25 cent beer still exists, but to find that, you will need to get out of the tourist area to do it (not to mention the dollar has sunk even further since 2003). Zizkov is one such area...not that far at all. I don''t know how old you are, but I remember seeing lots of young people with tons of local places to eat and drink.

Near the Rudolfinium, if my memory serves me correcly is a tavern/pub''restaurant called U Rudolfina. Some ratings below:

A local that we knew took us there, and it is good traditional czech stuff (so I would recommend throwing your diet out the window). Very reasonably priced when I was there in 2003.

If it''s not on your itinerary, I would recommend the very magical town of Cesky Krumlov. It''s just lovely, and I''ll admit it''s sentimental to me because my FI and met there.

I don''t know which way you are doing your itinerary, but I went to Prague first and then Vienna, which was a mistake. Prague is SO cheap to Vienna, that you get some serious sticker shock once you get to Vienna! I thought Prague was more beautiful, but it was also winter, which makes Prague magical I think. Vienna is also cleaner than Prague, from my memory (less graffiti, etc.) Definitely eat schitzel in Austria!

Sorry I don''t have much more on Vienna...I didn''t like it much for some reason and left a few days early. I''ve been to Salzburg a couple of times, and prefer it a bit over Vienna. It''s touristy, but very pretty. In Salzburg though, I highly recommend going to Augustiner Brau Stubl...totally cool place to have beers and food...and pretty historic. Lots of tourists, but worth it. It''s a bit of a walk outside old town, from my recollection, but a lovely walk. You can go along the river. I''ve attached a photo of the augustiner sign and the church it is next to.

Oh, almost forgot...saltmine tour! Great fun. I was lucky enough to get a tour with no one else but the two backpackers I met. So only three of us with a lovely lady guide. You get to go down a big slide (and we got to do it over and over again since there were only the three of us). Hallein salt mine was the one we did. I would imagine it would have been a much different experience with a crowd (which will probably be the case because you are going in summer.) I''ve heard there are some seriously touristy things like the sound of music tour, but I didn''t go on one.

Hope that helps...happy travels!

Prague was amazing! I went there about two years ago, in August. TravelingGal is right on about the bridge. I would also suggest the art museum, there are some incredible pieces if you’re into that. The architecture is so amazing. I visited a couple churches and the castle. Make sure you take really comfy shoes. I had blisters after that day! I took the night train in from Kosice, Slovakia and went back that night. So I really didn’t stay too long. Those were my highlights. Oh yes and bottled water very expensive, if you can keep some in your bag do.

Your so lucky, I hope I''ll be able to go back!
