when i was in grade school each school had their own kitchen staffs.every morning they would come in and prepare a nice hot lunch for all the students. i miss those home made school lunches.

As a child, my mom always packed my lunches so I don''t remember the good old days. . .my kids'' district uses Sodex for their lunches. Outside food, outside staff.

A few years back, I read in a book (possibly "Fast Food Nation?") that the beef used in school lunches the worst of quality. . .that even McDonald''s is sold better quality beef to make into their patties!

Hey even a nice grilled cheese sandwhich would have done the trick. Most Mom's just laid out the bread and and PB&J...

Oh I remember those days. My mom would let my brother and I buy our lunches once in a while. She made us really good home lunches though.

1950s. Our hot lunches were 35 cents. My favorite was the chocolate cake with the sticky marshmallow frosting.
