Any PS'ers buy the 2.38 carat Stunning Octavia???

I guess I am going to have to start washing your windows after all, Kenny.

Yippeeee!!! It is breathtaking Kenny! Can't wait to see your photos!

OMG I WANTED IT. There's no way I'd afford it but damn did I want this stone.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR PHOTOS.

Wow, it's beautiful. Looking forward to seeing the photos.

So that's what Jon was talking about in RT!!

:appl: :appl: :appl: Can't WAIT for your pics and thoughts, Kenny!! It'll be interesting to hear what you think with a similarly sized generic asscher and Octavia. SO might get jealous :naughty:

Though.. *selling* the Asscher? I really hope it goes to a good home with a PSer so we still get pics

kenny...do you have to sell the asscher? although I suppose if you don't wear it that would make sense...I remember seeing it in person and it is really a SPECTACULAR diamond :)

I can't afford both. ;(
I can't believe I'm letting my 2.26 asscher go, and I'm being sincere when I say, I may regret it.
Over the years several jewelers have asked to see it, and after just sitting there and studying it silently, they all say it's the best asscher cutting job they have ever seen, next to the Royal Asscher cut.
The personality is very very different from Octavia's.
Again, my SO wears the first Octavia sold so I've seen these two diamonds side by side for years now.
There are some lighting environment in which the Octavia steals the show and others where I prefer the classic architectural asscher proportions with those big columns of rainbow colors and the powerful hall of mirrors effect.

Thanks for all the congratulations.
I do hope this transaction goes through, though it is be no means a done deal.
Phoenix, you may just get this Octavia yet. :naughty:

Dear GOG:
Would you consider taking 13 Hermes bags in trade for that Octavia??

I was lucky enough to see this beauty this weekend - and wiggle it around on my hand a bit  - and it is just astoundingly spectacular!!! It is truly a disco ball!

I have to wait till my 2.26 asscher sells to have the $$$$ to buy the Octavia, which may take a while.
Like I said, I can't afford both.

Basically I was hoping for some kind of lay away arrangement till my asscher sold, but it's not possible - which I totally understand.
That's quite an expensive bauble to take off the market without knowing when the 2.26 will sell so I can pay for the new Octavia.
Plus there's a chance I would flake out and change my mind, in which case GOG would had taken it off the market and possibly lost a cash customer who would have seen it listed.

Silly me for thinking this would be a slam dunk; I'm kind of embarrassed.
I could "borrow" the funds from my 401K, but I'd have to sell my 2.26 and return the funds within 60 days or it would count as a premature distribution and I'd have to report it as income for this year and pay taxes on it and suffer a 10% IRS penalty.
I can't guarantee the 2.26 will sell within 60 days, so I don't want to take the risk.

Now I'm not sure what to do.
I may list my asscher and hope the Octavia is still available when it sells and I have the funds.
I may just keep my asscher, which is quite a consolation prize.

I gotta think.

Phoenix, if you buy it take lots of pics.

Why can't you trade your current stone for the Octavia? how big a leap is that?

Oh Kenny I am sorry; I hope somehow you get it but you know what if don't I think it is awesome how you are taking the responsible route.

It is a big leap.
Trading in means I'd only get credit for what I paid long ago.
The stone has almost doubled in retail value so trading in means throwing away tons of money AND coughing up tons more to buy the Octavia, even though the Octavia has a lower retail value than my asscher.

That's fine for people who have the bucks and want instant gratification and don't mind paying tons more for a stone with lower color and clarity, but that's not me.

You're current asscher is spectular Kenny and higher color/clarity and while that Octavia is out of this world I love your current stone. Especially for an extra 14k-IMO I'd just get a smaller one like your SO has if you really want one. It's up to you though bc they both are amazingly beautiful :)

Yeah a smaller Octavia would be fantastic too.

Hi,

The 401k is not a good idea. Banks do make short term loans(3 months, 6 months,) which can be uncolateralized. Mortgage loans are at the lowest they've been in 40 yrs, which would include Home Equity lines of credit. Your problem is that you may sell the asscher cut and still have the Octavia sold out from under you. Then you wouldn't have any one of them.

Diamonds seem to be your thing. This is your extravagance. I love houses. I am trying to figure out if I should buy another one (for another purpose). Sometimes I think it is complete foolishness, then other times I say why not? But I wouldn't pay cash for it.
Rates are so low.

I looked at the video, and see why you love it. Think smart over it. I would like to see you have both. Really they are both beautiful. They belong with Kenny. You would love them.

Kenny, I've known you for a long time and while I'm not going to ditto Annette's post, I agree with its sentiment. You want this, and if you want to, you can find a way to make it happen. We all want for you what we want for everyone. We want you to be happy.

Cheers,
Danny
