If there are I have a quick question!

no one?

ask away....

Okay, my daughter thinks it is hysterical to stick her fingers in my mouth. About 5 days ago she did this and scratched the gum above one of my front teeth (really high up). It has hurt since then. It is very red with a white "head". I am thinking it got infected and it is a blister

Just wanted to know if there was anything I could do to make it heal faster b/c it is painful. TIA!

One of my good friends from HS is a dentist as is her husband. I''ll shoot her a message and she what she says.

Sounds like she got an ulcer from the scratch. Put some Anbesol on it for the pain. Some dentits would give Decadron rinse but she is kinda small for that.

Aprilbaby, I think the kiddo put her hands in Tacori''s mouth and Tacori now has a sore in her mouth.

Ahh, thanks Addy, misread that one! Still, I think it is an ulcer. See if your dentist will give you Decadron rinse.

Thanks everyone. Yes, April, it is in my mouth and is driving me crazy. Will it go away on its own? Or would it be better to get the rinse. A mommy on the mommies thread said it takes a week. If that is the case I should be healing soon. It is still pretty ugly looking though. It doesn''t seem to be raised but when I put my tongue on it the "blister" will burn for a few minutes. Not sure if that helps you.

I''m no dentist, but I get those from time to time. They''re often called canker sores. I have one right now, blah. I usually get them if I bite the side of my mouth, or scratch the gum line, but sometimes they just show up for no reason. They do go away on their own, about a week or so, nothing to worry about. To clean em out I usually swab a mix of 50% hydrogen peroxide and 50% water, which sometimes speeds up the healing process, or prevents the sore from happening at all.

Snicklefritz, thanks! From the definition sounds like that could be it (red area with a white tip). They say canker sores are the same as mouth ulcers so I guess you and April are both right. I am surprised that they say the pain usually only last 2-3 days since mine has been 5. Hopefully it will go away VERY soon.

Hoping it goes away soon, those are painful!!!

Glad to help, Tacori! Hope it stops hurting soon.

It will heal in a week but its painful to be sure. Try the anbesol for the pain.

Ouch, Tacori! Not that this will make you feel better, but I usually get a canker sore every couple of months and sometimes they last for up to a week. So I wouldn''t worry too much if it isn''t gone after just a few days. Also, you can get these things called Canker Covers (I think!) that stick on the canker sore and those really help them heal faster. They''re kind of bulky to wear during the day but they make them feel better if I just wear them at night.

Ditto. Or make enough to do a rinse and swish for 30 seconds or so, a couple times a day.

You could also try swishing your mouth with warm salt water. This works well for mouth sores as well as sore throats.
