Rachel Maddow invented the word SMUG. Can't stand her.
Aww, I like Rachel Maddow. I've got a girl crush on her ~ she's smart, cute and nearly always on-point.

She's got a strong personality, though, so I can see how some people might find her irritating.

I have a major girl crush on her, too-she''s adorable and so smart! LOVE HER!

I dislike almost everyone that has been mentioned here, honestly. Any pundit that treats opinion as fact would be on my list.

I saw a stat on 538 that nearly 60% of all Tea Party members have a favorable view of Glen Beck but less than 20% of the general population did (and most didn''t even know who he was). Very interesting!

Oh, and this thread also made me think of the Ann Coulter episode of The Boondocks. Fabulous! That made her worth existing to me.

Oh, yuck. I can''t stand radicals on either side and she is beyond radical. She can''t get one sentence out before I cringe and change the channel.

What's radical about her? Is she liberal? Yep! Radical? Not so much. To say someone is a radical implies that their views are somehow outside of the mainstream.

For example, I think it's safe to say Osama Bin Laden is a radical. Same for Timothy McVeigh. Their views and beliefs are completely outside the mainstream.

Even though I HATE Rush Limbaugh and disagree with everything he says, I wouldn't classify him as radical. I mostly just think he's a bigoted, hypocritical idiot.

People these days are so quick to classify people they don't agree with as extremists or radicals and that's really ridiculous. And damaging to our country. If you think everyone who disagrees with you is a radical, how will you ever come to respect them or maybe even agree to disagree?

Ha, too many to list! My least favorites are probably Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern.
yeah,he is too liberal.

I have a hard time listening to Greta Van Sustren.

I like her during the OJ Simpson trial, then she butchered her face, and got job where she gets to be very biased and very aggressive and snotty.

She''s very obnoxious.

John Stewart is another one I find too annoying to watch.

They both seem cocky and snotty.

They seem to try to get you all emotionally worked up and angry about something, instead of just rationally examining the facts.

They make me feel like I''m reading something that the National Enquirer would find unfit to publish.

I just hate his smug expression in this picture.

Suzie Orman. I 100% support women taking charge of their finances, but she seems crazy and scares me--the bright hair, bright teeth, wide eyes, big manic smile--I wouldn''t want to meet her in a dark alley.

+1.

She is annoying.

She looks like she''s on Prozac and cocaine and leads some zombie cult.

I''m just not for people who cultivate followings.

Charisma makes me suspicious.

Haha. So true.

I hear you. And so many people these days believe what they want to believe. It''s weird. It''s like they have a vision or viewpoint and facts just aren''t going to get in their way. It''s distressing and it seems to be getting worse. I don''t doubt that the media intentionally conflating opinions with facts has something to do with it. I''m not a fan of the MSM- at all.

Agreed with both posters. I think that pretty much covers where I stand.

However, I must send love to Stewart and Colbert.

As for the Food Network...I''m generally much more interested in the FOOD than the HOST, but I will admit I find most of their personalities annoying...but I could not LIVE without Alton Brown.

Hmmm....Rachael Ray, Alton Brown, Rachel Maddow, Glenn Beck, Kelly Ripa, Nancy Grace....that''s about it off of the top of my head.

Glenn Beck makes me want to punch someone...preferably Glenn Beck.

Gretchen Carlson also annoys me--did anyone see that daily show where Jon Stewart talked about how she was top of her class at Stanford and yet dumbs herself down to appeal to "middle america"? Gross.

That was ridiculous. What was she asking for the definition of? Ignoramus or something?

I just loved how Jon Stewart handled it--"so I GOOGLED Gretchen Carlson..."

Ann Coulter. That woman can only be described as a word I make sure never passes my lips.

enormous ditto - I forgot about her because it makes me rageful if I remember she exists :)

There are quite a few media personalities or media figures (heck even just ''media'') I feel irritated by for various reasons. Hence, I don''t watch a whole lot of TV. It is just easier that way. I don''t like feeling irritated in the comfort of my own home.
26.gif
Amen. The operative phrase is "media personalities". I prefer my news (and this seems to be about "news" "personalites" more than anything else - as if one cannot get news without a personality delivering it...) to be as devoid of slant - of emotional hooks and ploys - as one can reasonably get these days. To that end, I don''t watch much TV news at all. I read most of mine. I know it still has bias - nothing in life is bias free after all - but at least I don''t get the conspiratorially hushed voice, tone of voice in general, the waggling or raised eyebrows, the innuendo, or the flat out denial of facts because of some stated personal reason.

And yes, John Stewart is a complete hoot.

Rachel Ray. Admittedly cute as a button. But OMG. That VOiCE! Peel paint right off the wall. Painful.

Wow I''m shocked at te Oprah hate I love her. As for her giving away the cars. The audience members were specially chosen. They had written in or their friends had written in. Also about her pinkie ring costing more than some people made in a year. Well you''re on the wrong board for that comment because I''m sure there are several of us right here who fit that bill. What you''re not supposed to enjoy your money? I personally can''t stand Ann Coukter because I fund her to be ignorNt and racist. I''m disgusted whenever she''s given a forum to speak! I cannot stand talk show host Monique. I love her in other arenas but her show is annoying because she''s always screaming!!!

Yup! My world is a happier place when I can forget that she shoots her mouth off whenever given the chance.

You guys have most of mine covered: Stern, Rush, Coulter, Hasselbeck, Beck
Would add: Jay Leno, Dick Clark (please, don''t make us see you in that condition), Octomom, Kate Gosslin, Spencer Pratt, that Giuliana Rancic person.

I love you for saying Spencer Pratt

I really don''t get the fascination with Rachel Ray. I have two of her cookbooks I''ll admit... b/c some of her recipes are quick.... but very few are what I''d consider healthy.... and she sort of displays that herself
12.gif
. But she annoys me. The other chef guy shown above (who looks like a hairy member of Rascall Flatts) bugs me too.

I hate Howard Stern

MICHAEL MOORE.

I don''t know if it''s him, or just the fact that some people believe everything that comes out of his mouth that bugs me more. While I agree with some of what he presents, I am able to realize that he only presents one side (his side!) of the story, and that there is so much more involved!

OPRAH!!!!!!! grrrrrr

That''s the only one I can think of off of the top of my head.
Ditto. And I have no real valid reason for disliking her except I think she''s self-righteous. Even that is probably negated by the fact that she''s done some pretty righteous things. But still....
14.gif
Exactly. Sure, she has done a lot of good, but I can''t stand the whole ''I am Oprah and am therefore right'' attitude and the fact that people condone it!

One of the few episodes I saw that stood out was when she visited a really poor neighbourhood in Chicago where people were making in a month, far less than what her diamond pinky ring costs! I know she gives back but...come on, do audience members really need a new car?! Does she really need so many houses?
I feel as though SUCH super wealthy people that are ''do-gooders'' don''t need to live off of MULTI-millions of dollars and can afford to donate WAY more money and still be wealthy. Look at Bill Gates, not millions but BILLIONS of his money has been donated!
Couldn''t agree more.

I find that most of the ''media personalities'' are devoid of much intelligence (Couric, Behar) rather badly educated (all), self-righteously opinionated (Obermann, Oprah, Coulter, Beck, Limbaugh), or just plain drama queens (Chris Matthews). Or ridiculously and stupidly profane (Stern). None of them possess a redeeming quality that I can think of.

And none of them deserve to be well paid, let alone wealthy. They are, for the most part, completely irrelevant. America needs to turn off the telly and maybe these bozos will fade away. We can hope.

I will be honest and admit that the personalities I tend to dislike are far right wingers. Like, I have no issue with intelligent conservatives, but I feel like the media representation is severely lacking for them. Hasselbeck, I think, is probably the worst because unlike the others, I'm completely convinced that she's stupid. I don't like O'Reilly or Coulter, but I will be honest an admit that they're probably smarter than a lot of us want to give them credit for. Coulter, I think, is a smart girl, that just happens to say incredibly ridiculous things.

I don't like Nancy Grace because she's so over the top with the theatrics. I CANNOT stand the Neely's from Food Network because they are so inappropriate. I also find Joe Scarborough to be teetering on the edge of idiocy.

I love Oprah. I agree with some of the criticism, but I think all the good she's done and continues to go far outweighs the negatives. Yes, she has a lot of homes, but does that really matter? I admire her to the nth degree. To me, she comes off as an honest confident person, and maybe that is manifested as self-righteousness?

I also love Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. The View wouldn't be watchable if not for those two, plus they both are vocal about their support for gay rights, and that's a big plus for me. Sherri is okay, but home girl didn't know the Earth was round. Seriously? I think her issue is that she follows religion mindlessly.
