I''m going to England this wkend and am trying to figure out the weather (as I''ll be outdoors for one of the days for a function).

Now I know UK weather is unpredictable, but the 2 sites I looked at have opposite forecasts--one says sunny and the other says complete rain! Do you know a site that is fairly reliable or should I just toss this up to completely unpredictable weather. I know we have some English gals on this site, so thought I''d just ask

thx!

Um, they''re probably both right.

I''m in Watford (NW of London), and usually use the BBC''s weather forecasts, although it''s still hit & miss with them (they were right today, though!). Amusingly, they tend to say the opposite of Wii Weather--like for this weekend, the Wii forecast channel says sunny on Saturday and Sunday, whereas BBC weather says ''light rain showers'' for both days. The thing is, though, both can be true! It can be gorgeous for hours, then rain for 30 minutes and then be gorgeous again!

So, the moral of this story is, pack for any weather.

I''m just across the radioactive sea from Blighty and in my experience England gets much better Summers than we do - one of the benefits of being further South I guess!

Anyway I''d go with the Beeb, they''ve a reputation for being super reliable. Some people here actually use them for our weather in preference to RTÉ. But, no matter what the forecast says, you should still be prepared for rain. Always carry a pashmina or a cardi and keep tabs on the nearest point of shelter!

And enjoy your weekend on this side of the pond!

thanks gals! I''m going to assume it will be bright and sunny and then persistent rain since 2 sites have predicted one of each! (BBC and Uk.weather.com). Going to southern england..mabye it''s more unpreditable as you get closer to the coast?

pashmina for sure..and alcohol to stay warm

. Just wanted to know what generally expect for the day ie sun or torrential rain! Temps seem pretty consistent on all sites at least.

Hey Janinegirly

Despite what any forecast says, you need light layers, the outermost being waterproof!

Where are you headed?

The BBC is usually pretty good, although in Oxford yesterday I was looking at the little sunny symbol for 1pm, whilst a raging thunderstorm went on outside. So definitely don''t rely on it! It''s lovely today though. Have a great trip!
