I lived in Aus for half a year.

St Kilda has been my favourite team since the first AFL game I watched--they played Essendon and lost by over 100 points. Plus the St Kilda area of Melbourne is really cute and fun, and has the VCA in it (which I thought about going to for grad school at one time).

I still get homesick for Aus sometimes, even though I was only there for 6 months and I haven''t been there for 9 years. It''s a great country...even when the Cats do end up winning the Grand Final.

Woooo yes i did!!!

I was rooting for Geelong (although i really like both teams) and was in the deepest depths of despair when they kept fumbling!!! They were pretty lucky in the end and started playing real footy in the last 15 minutes of the game.

Gwen I just have to ask -how did you find the coffee in Melbourne compared to in the States? I ask because when I visited NYC earlier this year I was surprised at how ''different'' the coffee was to what I am used to drinking here in Aus.

Glad you enjoyed your time here, you should come back if you get the chance! Oh and the Cats aren''t so bad, just not as good as the Saints.

We had a AFL GF party at our house. I didn''t watch it (too busy chatting with a few girls) but I''m bummed for TGuy. He has been a long suffering St. Kilda supporter and I guess he will have to suffer some more.

He was at least happy it was a good game. A couple of years ago, we watched his mum''s favorite team (Port Power) get humiliated, and it was embarrassing for him because it was the first time his American friends hung out to watch AFL and they were BORED.

Nup, I can''t stand footy. I went shopping instead! It''s the best day of the year to shop cos everyone else is at home watching the footy!

And since the Cats won, FI came home in a very forgiving mood. He totally forgave me for spending hundreds of dollars on clothes!

A great game - only caught the highlights because I spent the afternoon working.

I was hoping StK would pull it off. As a fairly new AFL watcher, I don''t really have any true alliance. It''s just that my favorite gridiron team is the New Orleans Saints, so I figure I should stick with what I know.

aj, of course, I should have guessed you''d be a West Coast girl!!

softly softly and gwen, I really did feel for the Saints, they had it in the bag and just lost the slightest bit of composure when it mattered most. Luck was on the Cats'' side! Unbelievable ending!!

cindy, I don''t know WHAT they were doing in the first half, but they were getting mauled by St Kilda. My brother just about had heart failure in the last 10 minutes!!

TGal, the final of 2007 wasn''t really worthy of a GF showdown, I get the boredom factor!! We were pretty bored by 3/4 time, but we really did enjoy it in the end

honey, good for you!! Footy benefits most, in one way or another

justginger, I was so sure the Saints had them by the neck the whole way, it''s fair to say Geelong were pretty well outclassed until the last quarter!!

A hard fought match by all!
