Hi everyone.

I''ve got another sick kitty who needs your kind thoughts.

Miglet is almost 19 years old. She had a stroke a few years ago and has been having something like seizures since then. She is terrified of the car so we haven''t taken her to the vet since her stroke. The stress would just kill her.
She gained her strength back and had been doing great until a couple of months ago. (she even attacked the dog -- the large dog).

The vet told us that her kidneys were just starting to show signs of weakness (not bad for a 16 year old cat). Her only other problem was her teeth. Of course they won''t clean an elderly cat''s teeth...

The last couple of weeks have been sad. She sleeps with her mouth open now and drools. Her drool has had a bit of blood in it. Not much. Just some. And one day I found a glob of bloody saliva on the floor.

She is still clearly there mentally. She is not in any kind of pain. She still gets excited for her food and is able to eat it. Other than this bleeding she is reasonably healthy and quite comfortable. And shockingly full of energy.

Any thoughts? Is it just that maybe she is losing teeth (I looked yesterday and she only has a few left)?

I''m sorry

::HUGS:: and much healing dust for kitty

I am SOOOO very sorry ... I am huge into cats and I know just how you feel.

Since you are unable to get kitty to the vet is your decision to keep her home until her last days?

We cannot really determine if our kitties are in pain or not, they have a huge tolerance to pain.

The blood would concern me a bit but As long as she is eating and drinking (but not drinking too much - monitor that) then she is still ok.

Since my recent loss of my Kitty to Fel Luk I am anti meds now and if you are able to get her to the vet they would probably just
give you something that will break down her kidneys anyway.

Just a lot of love and care and thankfullness that you have had her all these years.

My heart goes out to you and Miglet.

I do plan to keep her at home. When the time comes, I''m hoping she''ll go quietly in her sleep after a long and happy life. If she does get to be in much pain I won''t let her suffer. I''ve got a family member who is almost done with schooling to become a vet and has been an assistant to a vet for 5 or 6 years. I need to check, but I''m sure she would be willing to come out and help Miglet go to sleep peacefully.

I prefer to treat without medications where possible. The last time Miglet went to the vet I lost all faith in them. They were the 2nd place to (multiple times) try to guilt us into CT scans, MRIs, x-rays, blood tests (every 2 hours for 24 hours), urine testing (every 4 hours for 24 hours), and more.
Miglet was 16 (almost 17) at the time. And they wanted to do an MRI because they suspected she has a slightly enlarged heart. When asked what this would prove or disprove and how they planned to treat it if this was the case, the vets response was "well, if you don''t really love her then maybe you should just take her home."

Poor baby. It is so sad when they start to go. When it was our kitty Koko''s time [she was almost 17] we did take her to the vet to see if there was anything to be done and then decided to take her home to let her go peacefully.

Our thoughts and prayers are coming your way . . .

So sad...

I love all animals and I love my wonderful cat, who''s getting up there in age...he doesn''t jump like he used to, and his kidneys are going...and I know his time will come, and it''s hard to imagine. So I can''t even imagine how you must be feeling.

I hope Miglet goes to sleep peacefully, thinking about the wonderful life you''ve given her...

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers.

I''m hoping that it is just her teeth and she''ll get all healthy again. We''ve had a few times in the last 2 or 3 years when we were sure she wouldn''t make it through the day. And somehow she pulled through and was back to climbing on furniture and pushing the dog around.

I''ve only been lucky enough to be her person for the last 5 years. B rescued her from a shelter when she was just a little kitten (6 weeks or so). I know this is going to be hard for him. She has been with him through marriages, divorces, kids, illness, and his near death.

TooPatient,

OMG, I am so sorry to hear about your Miglet. It does sound to me like the blood is coming from the teeth, I can''t fathom where else it would be coming from. I pray that you continue to enjoy your Miglet for a long while. It sounds like the love you give is strength to get the both of you through this time.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.
