Hi everyone -

I haven't been very active on PS lately. I am getting married in October, and my fiance and I are essentially eloping. I bought a beautiful designer dress instead of a wedding dress/gown because of that. I posted pictures a while back of my dress, but never with me in it personally since my fiance and I live together and I really do not want him to see the dress until the day we get married.

My friends and I went on a bachelorette party/weekend trip this past weekend to Las Vegas. It was a lot of fun, but tiring. In our travels, we came across my dress on sale at Barney's. Since my friends had not seen the dress on, I found the dress closest to my size so that they could see it. My friend managed to stealthly snap two pictures before the sales associate came back, so I'm posting it here for you all.

Keep in mind, it's not my size. The one that I purchased, everything is more fitted and the hemline is a bit shorter.

My question is...what kind of shoes should I wear with this dress? Or accessories? I totally do not have an eye for things like this. I was thinking that a silver shoe/accessories might be nice. Maybe some simple dangling earrings and a bracelet since I don't want to take away from the details of the dress.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Really pretty!! I''d say earrings and bracelet too - maybe even a sparkly cuff bracelet?

How high of a heel would you want? Budget? What size shoe?

I would like to wear something roughly between 2 - 3 inches. My fiance is 6'5" and I am 5'3". Although we are eloping, we've hired a photographer to take pictures of us in various places in DC, so I would like to be able to walk comfortably with some height. I wear a size 6 shoe. No realy budget in mind. I do really love the Manolo Sedarby shoes, but unsure whether I can still find them in my size. I'm really open to all suggestions. Thanks!

Normally I think we tend to steer brides AWAY from buying a second dress, but in this case I don''t think it would do any harm. You could easily order the JCrew dress and if you love it, then great! As the other lovely ladies have pointed out, you can still wear the first one for other functions. If it turns out you don''t love the JCrew dress, no problem. You can easily return it and you still have a dress you love. In this particular situation, it seems there''s really nothing to lose by ordering it. And you can always pair it with lavendar shoes if you want to keep some lavendar elements.

i did the same thing! although i was married in a very small ''semi-traditional'' ceremony on the beach - the first dress i bought was very beachy and not a ''wedding dress'' at all...

then i started to second guess myself... i finally talked to my sister about my concern and she said something that went right to the heart of the matter (for me)... she said ''you only get married once, and even if it rains, no one shows up, the food stinks, your hair doesn''t turn our perfect etc. at least you are wearing the dress you love and you feel beautiful in.. and that''s what shows on your face - that you feel beautiful and are in love''.

so i bought another dress.. one that made me feel like a ''bride'' - that ''bride'' feeling on the day of our wedding is something i can''t really explain.
it''s not a ''look at me i''m a BRIDE''.. it''s just a feeling that something important is about to happen - especially when you put the dress on - it''s white and long and beautiful for a reason (cuz really, when in your life will you ever wear a white full length dress?;)

and the dress is definitely a way to differentiate yourself from other times in your life when you may get dressed up...

so my personal ''grain of salt'' opinion is to buy the jcrew dress if you can swing it.. offset the cost by selling your beautiful lavender dress and feel like a bride.. even if just for yourself ;)

*nevermind*

I guess red shoes and accessories would be out for a wedding. Or pink. YUM! I want to put you in color with that gown. But I think silver would be very nice too! Or you could do white or ivory accessories with silver/grey accents. Nevermind me, Freke will find you something perfect I''m sure!

Buy the Jcrew, why not.

The dress is FABULOUS!

Oopss.... wrong thread.

I thought the dress was grey or platinum. Sorry. Red would be a fabulously bad choice. So would pink. Ignore my post. Please. LOL.
