I know,I know...I have asked more then my share of ''what would you do''questions but It does really help me with these situations to recieve advise from people outside the situation.Heres the situation...
What would you do if you found out your company is hiring temporary/untrained christmas help and paying them Alot more then the regular staff. The temp staff will be earning $12.00 an hour to train(3.10 an hr. more then me)and after training they will be bumped up to $15.00 plus insentive(6.10 an hour more plus insentive)I currently recieve the same percent insentive as they will recieve.Keep in mind that Ive been with the company for over a year and have been told that the company isnt giving raises and was denied a raise(hiring and raise freeze) even though i bring in 40-50%of the daily sales. What would you do and say besides look for another job(which im doing!)...Thanks for helping me through another work ''situation''!

While I think that stinks I would just try not to let it bother me. These days I feel lucky to have a job. Yes, you can look for another job but I worry about moving somewhere too because being low person on the totem pool is kind of scary as well. Good luck.

Former Retail Manager here...I would ask for a casual closed door meeting with the person you report to. I would calmly, logically and professionally ask for an explanation. Try not to jump to conclusions, I know this appears to me a pretty obvious situation but perhaps there are other factors that you are unaware of. I had the EXACT situation occur last holiday season with some employees at my company, the company''s response was to match the pay. Stay positive and optimistic.

Since these are temp employees are they getting paid by the agency or did your company hire them? Sometimes if they go through an agency, they also get paid by the agency and they can make more than full time employees who are getting paid by their company. It''s a worth it for employers to do this as they don''t need to provide any benefits.

Also, most companies have a policy regarding employees discussing their salaries. Just for that alone I wouldn''t say anything. However, I think this might be a good reason to start looking for a new job.

The company is sending out an e-mail to all employees to ask them to help find people for these positions and in the e-mail it states the salaries the temps will recieve.I thinks its amazing that the company dosnt think that there wont be a backlash from current employees that temps will be paid as much as the managers!
