I thought I read somewhere that they are juveniles or at least some of them are, I hope they are charged not only with a hate crime but also kidnapping and assault. Even if they are underage, try them as adults and throw the book at them.

This makes me see red. damn straight its a hate crime and they should be charged as such. I get sick of people saying "African Americans can't be racist". bullarky, yes we can. I hate seeing that type of behavior in my own; its not warranted. But anyone, if they have it in their hearts can be racist. You would hope no person would be but there you are.

The seriously sick part is that they put it on facebook live for entertainment. I had read that the man was still very traumatized by it. Knowing that he's also mentally ill makes this whole thing even worse. I'm hoping that he'll get the care needed to recover.

If this case sets a precedent http://www.ktvb.com/news/crime/teen-pleads-not-guilty-to-sex-assault-charges/314635524 , then any juvenile involved will not be tried as an adult. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out not only between these two cases but in comparison to all the football players who got off easy in 2016 after raping women.

Good because crimes like this committed by anyone are reprehensible. Glad to see the hate crime enhancement was added. The fact that the scumbag Hill knew the victim from school is just disgusting because its not like it was a random stranger - either is awful though.

I can't get over the many deep rooted psychologically disturbing things at play here. That kid is going to be traumatized forever. I hope he has a loving family and community to rally around him.

Kate, one of the definitions of a hate crime is that it includes crimes against the intellectually disabled. As it should.

Sickening. I hope all four of them get locked up for life. I read that the victim considered one of them to be his best friend.

All four of them are sitting in jail. I believe the judge denied bond. The whole city is outraged. They have a go fund me account set up for the young victim. They set the total amount needed at $10,000. I believe they have raised over $60,000. This poor young man is going to be in therapy for years. I just hope he will be able to recover emotionally.

Throw them in jail. I hope the poor man is fine after all this.
