Now that our browsing history can be sold, I've taken more interest in attempting to protect my privacy as a thumb my nose gesture at our government. Here's some info I've dug up so far. Does anyone here use one of these or have a recommendation?

The above article doesn't mention TOR which seems to be the one most used by those in the tech industry and those who really really don't want anyone to know what they're doing on the Dark Web. Found this info about TOR:

Someone at my work was using Tor I think. That was last year and I always teased him about his raging conspiracy theories - he likes that ridiculous InfoWars with Alex Jones. Maybe I have to take this seriously now LOL. Thanks for the links!

I used TOR when it first came out back in the early aughts -- I worked in a company dominated by computer jocks and someone is always trying out the latest and greatest (I remember very early google and twitter). I don't anymore -- mostly because I keep my browsing to a very few public sites I visit regularly. I do use an anonymous search engine (startpage or duck duck go) and I've customized firefox to increase my privacy. Anything more than that and I use my personal VPN and proxy servers to go online. I also have the same set up on my mobile devices -- which is handy when having to access public wi-fi. For work I use my company's VPN.

I think that privacy will be a very valuable commodity in the future.
