Walter Cronkite has passed away.I saw him speak a couple years ago, and while he was obviously frail and had a couple stumbles, he was still so charismatic. He certainly saw a lot in his long lifetime.![]()
i remember him getting teared up during the moon landing. When my brother was in Vietnam during the war,my whole family watched Walter Cronkite every night to hear what was happening during the war.He was like a family friend and I will miss him.Date: 7/18/2009 6:14:46 PM

A lot of the posters here are too young to remember Walter Cronkite on TV. He retired in the early 80''s which was before a lot of them were born, much less watching the news. I remember watching him cover President Kennedy''s funeral. I was in school when the assassination took place so wouldn''t have been watching TV when he announced that he''d died, but I definitely remember his coverage of the funeral. And also the moon landing. My mother was more of a Huntley/Brinkley person but I preferred Cronkite, even as a kid.

so sad...I saw him last yr at the movie theater and was excited to see him since I remember seeing him on the news. I had to explain to my daughters that''s WALTER CRONKITE...and tell them that he was the most famous newsman ever. I didn''t dare go up to him but I did stare a lot (with a stupid grin on my face)
