Wedding All this experience, and no more weddings to use it on.

You know, in a way, it''s really a shame that people only get married once. I only mean that, I''ve learned SOOOOO MUCH that I never knew throughout this whole wedding planning process. Obviously I had never planned a wedding before, so I was a novice going in to this. But now that I have one wedding under my belt, I feel like I could be so more efficient and effectual if I was planning another wedding. And unfortunately for me, almost all of my friends are married or just about to finish their own wedding planning, so I can''t even pass on my experience. I guess I''ll have to settle for passing on my knowledge to all of you

Anyone else wish they could plan another wedding now that they have some experience under their belt? Or are you all just so happy to be done planning your own that you would never want to do it again?

Sabine: Just because it''s all over doesn''t mean you have to stop! I''m sure there are still lots of people out there who needs some good wedding help! I work with a women who has helped plan over 13 weddings in the last fews years, just because she helped all her sibblings, then her cousins, then close family members and just by word of mouth she is the wedding planer to everyone who needs help. If you are up to it, just put it out to your friends/family that you would love to help out in any way! If all you want to do is help out and enjoy your work you could just tell the couple, that you don''t want ot be paid, just would like to be invited and see it all come together (this is what the women at work does. She often gets little gifts too, she''s rockin a new Coach bag the most recent bride bought as a thank you gift)

I am actually going to get married for a second time (hopefully) and I am looking forward to being able to change a few things around!! On a side-not, MANY people are getting married more than once (for good or bad), so the initial statement that "people only get married once" is not really accurate

I think that giving advice to other people can really be great if it is done in a hands-off and "objective" manner; as we all know, people have wildly different ideas of what is desirable in a wedding!!

Hey! For once saying this is my 2nd marriage is a good thing! I learned a lot from my first wedding and I''m basically doing everything opposite! The most important I learned is to not stress out and to enjoy every second. I see all these brides who are in a daze and then they hardly remember the day! I''m going to laugh when things aren''t perfect, soak up every wonderful moment of the day, oh...and less is more! My wedding is going to be simple and wonderful.

I know exactly how you feel. I recall immediately after gift opening writing a massive email to my friend who is planning her daughter's wedding. She and I had consulted on a lot of things prior to the wedding, so I was compelled to write a long list of what I found were do's and dont's. Thankfully I also have a coworker getting married 10/11/08 so she's all excited that I have advice and even scheduled a lunch to discuss. LOL
For some reason it feels like you suddenly have all this knowledge after actually making it through the day. In reality, I really know nothing I'm sure! A big thing is that you never really know how your vendors are going to be until it's all happening! So I totally have advice on who to/not to hire in my area!

Such as......(see I can't help myself!!!!)......
Apparently I needed to plan what door I was going to walk out of at church. As I walked out the back (after picking up my purse downstairs) and heading to where the "wedding vehicle" was parked, I saw it taking off to go to the front door! GRRRR I had to send someone to tell the best man to drive back around or else I'd have to walk up 2 flights of stairs! At this point, we didn't have time for that kind of thing.

Will it be hot? Is there air conditioning at your ceremony site? Who knows how to turn it on and how can you make sure it will turned on in advance? I was married in a church that is verrrry popular for weddings and can't believe this was an issue!

Does anyone ever think about make-up for the groom??? I saw some photos and DH has a very shiny face (see above comment about lack of A/C!)....wish I would have powdered his head LOL!!!

I mentioned my bustling issues before.... Wish I would have demanded a mirror to watch how it's supposed to be done and maybe I could have directed someone to do it right.

Oh, Sabine, I feel you. DH and I LOVED wedding planning, and we LOVED the whole day. We would do it all over in a heart beat (except I don''t think we could ever top what we had. Even with the little imperfections, it was still pretty perfect!) I guess I wouldn''t do mine over, but I sure wouldn''t mind planning another amazing reception (maybe we''ll have a huge aniversary party some day!) I''ve been married a year now, and still I frequent the BIW board. I always feel like I should graduate from it, but I LOOOOOVE hearing about everyone else''s unique ideas and offering advice when I can. It seems to me that the BIW ladies welcome advice from those who''ve been there and done that.

hahaha, yeah i got that--i don''t think candles made of silver the metal would float very well! the question marks were because i was wondering if the candles in that length were budget friendly. exactly what price range are you hoping to find on them? i''m a google whore, haha! hmm...can you say that on pricescope? if not, i apologize!

LOL! I am hoping to spend about 1.50 per candle...I found some white ones that I could buy in bulk...but my table cloth is going to be burgendy...and the bottom of my center pieces are black rocks...and I''m hoping to add a bit of sparkle to them! I don''t want the candles going out during the dance! LOL, that''d be horrid! I think you can say whore on here...I''ve seen worse...if we can''t I''m sorry! I''m a pricescope one! I found some awesome ones...but there are like 3bucks a pop and I need idk 4 per table..I might just change to votives and have a single floating candle in my main center piece to save $$$!
