I was wondering if any of you can offer advice on wording of thank you cards where you were given cash or a check? I''m really not good at wording things like this. Thanks!

Dear Aunt Jane and Uncle Joe,

Thank you so much for your generous gift. We plan on using it for our (insert reason here: house, honeymoon, frying pans, whatever), so your gift is greatly appreciated. Blah blah blah say something special about how you hope to see them soon or it was so wonderful catching up with them at the wedding (whichever applies). Embellish as necessary.

Sorry it's early. That's the best I've got right now. But just make reference to their generous gift. You don't need to say cash, check, or the amount.

What Nearfreak suggested is pretty much what I wrote, minus the blah blah blah part.

I thanked them for coming, said that it was great to see them again, and then thanked them for their gift (whether it was cash or a check) and mentioned that it would be put into a house account. We''re trying to save for a house.

Thanks so much!
