CharmyPoo, did not intend for anyone to feel sad...just thought to myself does anyone else ever think that?
I just felt bad because I know I should be saving instead of spluring on goodies I want.

I wouldn't use the word 'jealous.'

I think that when I see someone with a budget way in excess of what we could afford, it is more a thought of 'oh, I wish we could afford that.'

It is more wishful thinking really. As others have said more eloquently than me, we all have different lives and different priorities.

I would like to also say that I find PS very different in their approach than other forums I have participated in. On here, the facts and figures are spoken about in such a matter of fact way, it is not offensive. Not bragging, no na na nana na's here!!! I don't think the huge budgets and proportions are given any more priority than smaller ones. In fact i have seen some our experts go over and above the call of duty to find an exceptional stone for a poster with a very limited budget. The community here just seems to relish a challenge and wants everyone to share in the delights of a beautifully cut diamond. In fact it is my on personal belief and I say it often it is never size that is important it is how the diamond behave thats matters. Now, we know that applies to even the smallest of melee stones.

I have seen beautiful rings on PS from 0.10 to 22 carats and lots more in between, each of them love and adored by many. When I posted my set, far from a perfect PS concoction I was given lots of very kind and thoughtful comments that made me look at mine in a new sparklier light!

I think it is one of the few places that you can admire other peoples diamonds without it becoming a 'mine is bigger than yours' type of activity!

What a lovely post, Susimoo! I agree with everything you said. The focus on helping people, no matter their budget, does come through here. It's kind of a "we're all in this together" place! Plus, I live vicariously through several members' purchases, so that helps keep the GEM away.

... Since I was 18, I put away about $80-$100 or so every month for the last 21 years. I saved up about $25,000 with the idea to buy myself something really speacial. at 18, I didn't know that I would love jewelry so much... so in my late 20's, I figured out that I'd probably end up buying either a Diamond or a really nice precious gem.

Last year, I bought my ring - and it was a lifetime dream to own such beautiful item. The fact that I saved so long for it, makes it so much more satisfying, especially when I look at it and admire it... I know I could have used it on a house or whatever, but my pear diamond was the item I REALLY wanted. I am so happy that I did it :)
I know this is THE diamond of my lifetime. Some people spend it on a car or a bag... For me, it was a diamond. So be it, and I have no regret about it cause there will never be any upgrading or any other big diamond purchase... EVER. :)

I used to get a twinge of the GEM when brousing PS and seeing all the big budgets and beautiful rings.

However, I not longer do. I love my ring, it''s not perfect and it''s not expensive but I love it and while very small for PS it''s pretty massive for where I live and my age. Also, if I had 20k+ saved up a bigger ring would not come close to the top of my list of things to spend it on. I love sparklies but they are still not the top of my priority list.
