I wonder if TL would see brown in it.

I'd have seriously done whatever I had to in order to earn enough cash to bust that thing open LONG ago, especially if I was moving! Cute story though!

Yeah, just another sapphire "treatment"! :o Seriously, I don't know that I could ever get it clean enough to want to wear it again :knockout:

Truth is stranger than fiction. . . hard to believe that young working people couldn't have somehow scraped together enough money to by a new toliet . . . makes a great story though. No one will be looking to steal that ring!

Hey, why not. 36 years ago they did not have glass filled rubies, so there would be no porosity in the gem and a good soak in the ultrasonic, maybe with a little lye or something would surely clean out any "deposits" under the prongs.

Wink

GNARLY!

I'm sure once it was sterilized it was fine.

One of the latest "crazes" in treasure hunting over the past five years has been out house excavations. Everything from jewelry to eyeglasses to bottles from the 17 and 1800's have been recovered.

EW! Ill pass on that trend, thanks!

Sort of sweet. Really gross. Mostly confusing.

If I lost a ring (especially engagement ring!) in a toilet, I'd have the toilet ripped out before anyone could stop me. I'd also quite happily SMASH the toilet if there was the slightest possibility that it was stuck inside -- even if it was the only toilet in the house!
