So in addition to my recently acquired diamond jackets from Whiteflash, DH has kindly split his tax return with me for my 30th birthday. Naturally I'm thinking of something glittery  The budget is $1500, and for once I'm totally stumped as to what I should get. The leading condenter at the moment is a smaller version of my eternity band (which is made up of 20 pointers), in 5 pointers or thereabouts, to stack with my engagement ring. Although, I wear my 20 pointers eternity on my right hand, and wonder if it would look a bit odd/boring with an eternity ring on each hand, of much the same overall look  I have diamond studs and now the jackets to dress them up with, so I don't want earrings. I have a tennis bracelet, my eternity lives on my right hand, and I'm not a fan of necklaces. I'm intrigued about the idea of an AVC rhr, but $1500 won't really buy me much in that field.

Soooooo... what's a girl to do?! Any ideas??

DBTY Necklace...

Stacking bands!! That way you can stack with your wedding set.. Hmm I'm dreaming of a baguette and round bezeled eternity band from IDJ in yellow gold with diamonds and the colored stone of your choice... That way it's different than having two traditional eternities ;)

ok, i'm way to practical: i'd hold onto it and add $ periodically and then splurge on something i really Really REALLY wanted.

Ditto movie zombie. Start a fund for something big :appl: :appl: :appl:

I'm with MZ. If you're stumped as to what to get, wait until you come across something that really connects.

I vote for either a nice watch - a Cartier like iLander's, maybe - or a completely different sort of an eternity band. A channel set carre band looks totally different from a shared prong band of rounds ....

Nice coloured stone earrings... or do as MZ says and keep adding till you can get what you really want!

How about an gemstone RHR? Depending on what you picked you should be able to afford a pair of AVC 0.25 sides if you really want AVC. Or something vintage with an AVC?

I would definitely do some sort of ring. Necklaces and earrings are nice but you rarely get to see them! You can see your rings all the time :)

Yes, I agree on waiting until you figure out exactly what you want. That said, there's nothing wrong with having an eternity band on both hands. It'll add a bit of sparkle to your right hand!

Don't get a ring that's just going to end up in the mix. Get something fabulous & stand alone. That will always remind you of your 30th birthday.

I bought myself a Tiffany tank watch for my own 30th & still love it/wear it 14 years later. Another option might be a nice, classic strand of pearls.

I'd get a nice gemstone RHR to match your favorite color of cocktail dress. Just so you can add a splash of color to your jewelry routine if you feel like it. Something with some statement and personality.

I really agree with saving it to get a special stand-alone piece to commemorate your birthday! Don't rush...I usually get gifts months after an occasion because I take my time figuring out what I want and then finding it! Plus, you can add more money to it if needed if you wait.

I would save it for something big.... :naughty:

Definitely watch. You can either get a dressy(diamond) one or an everyday leather watch, depending on your style.

and i wouldn't be locked into having to have on my birthday....i waited 6 months once to get my christmas present from my hubby [his $ to me to get what i wanted]. it wasn't until June that i ran into an 18k red gold chain that was half off! made my day and its still one of my fav presents!

I would blow the budget on Pearls! Probably a big fat strand of baroque Tahitians or a quality strand of akoyas! Be sure to let us know what you decide on :wavey:

Oh you are all WAY too good to me!! Thanks all so much for your suggestions!! For now I'm going to do exactly as you wonderful ladies have suggested and hang onto the dosh... who knows, a fabulous AVC deal may come up on the pre-loved thread!!!  I have my beautiful jackets to wear on my birthday to celebrate, yippee!!

Thanks all!!!!!!! :appl:

I think Packrat still has a couple AVCs listed in the loose diamonds category on DB -- I don't think she ever posted them on Preloved here, though. Could be worth checking out, if that's what you're interested in!

Cartier has an 18" gold chain for $475. Two would make an opera length chain. They have a 2.5 mm wedding band for $525. Three Cartier pieces for $1500.

I know that's not what you are looking for but that's what I would get. :saint:

glad to have been of help, DandiAndi!

i know for me when i can't decide its better to wait until something just screams "buy me"!

Happy Birthday!

Well I had a lightbulb moment  After thinking about it for a few days I don't really want to tip any more then $1500 into bling for myself this time around, there are a few other non-jewellery *gasp* things I want, and I really like the idea of an eternity to stack with my wedding set. So that's the go! I've emailed Luann @ IDJ about one and we'll go from there. Unless I change my mind tomorrow, which is altogether possible. I have wanted this eternity for a long time, so I figure now is as good a time as any to get it! To get an AVC in the look I like as a RHR I'd probably be looking at 1ct or thereabouts, and I just can't justify that kind of dosh.

Thanks again all! You're such dolls

Good for you - going for what you want! :appl:

This will be a 5point eternity band to wear on with your ering/wb? U setting? prong? channel.... dish the deets!!! :D

Spill the beans!! What kind of eternity ;)

Ohhh, sounds great!!! Can't wait to see pics you lucky gal!!! :appl:

Shame on me for the lack of details! Disgraceful :rodent: It'll be a shared prong setting, super low (as my e-ring profile is very low too) and white gold. I pondered on yellow gold for a bit but I like the discreteness of white prongs, so it's settled! :appl:

Perfect! Place the order first thing Monday morning?!? :naughty:

Can't wait to see it on you!

Yay
