If almost eveyone has an above average number of fingers/toes than the minority of people below the average must be realy pulling the average down (like by paying an arm and a leg for something *badoomp chhhhhh*).

1 person missing one finger or toe that is not negated by someone with an extra puts the average below 10 even when counting every person in the world.
So most are above average.

Lets say there are 10million people and 1 is missing a finger.
That is 9,999,999 with 10 fingers and 1 with 9
So there are 99,999,999 fingers on 10,000,000 people
The average is: 9.9999999 fingers per person
10 million people are above average :}
