I guess it''s kind of snuck up on me, because a few weeks ago, people at work started asking me if I was getting excited/nervous or if I was counting down. I wasn''t yet. Now... I''m getting really excited!!
My bachelorette night is happening this coming Saturday, and I have 20 girls coming out for it! I''m looking forward to that a lot, since I think it will be super fun to hang out with ladies I''ve known for varying lengths of time and have them all meet each other. Plus, it''s fun to have random patrons (I work in a library) tell me they saw our engagement announcement in last weekend''s paper, and what a tall/dark/handsome husband I will have.
As for wedding related things, I''ve been pretty good about delegating the things that would be difficult for me to accomplish. This weekend, while I was writing up place cards (color coded for the wait staff at the restaurant where we''re having our reception; red for chicken penne, ivory for fettuccine) I got my dad working on our programs! It was pretty cool; my dad is good with computer layout, so I was glad to involve him and his his skills, since, when we designed our invitations ourselves, it was a pain in my backside. My mom helpfully picked out a mat for our ''guestbook'' frame, and FH finally got a suit and ivory shirt.
My mom was sweet and went digging for her wedding dress to maybe use some lace for my "something old." It wasn''t showing up in our storage area, so I asked if she had anything of my grandmother''s (her mom who died when I was in college) and she said she had a few things. She showed me the watch my grandmother wore, and it is engraved with her initials, and I am named after her, so that is perfect! Plus, my mom has an aquamarine ring that she wears in remembrance of grandma (it''s her birthstone) so I asked if I could ''borrow'' that ''something blue,'' and she said yes. Everything else I''m wearing is new, so these pieces will be nice.
Last few things left are the seating chart (we''ve already been playing around with this, as it''s fun to imagine different guests sitting with each other, and we''ve only 28 people to "arrange"), write our prayers of the faithful (Catholic wedding), fully memorize our vows, and find a few presents for the guys who are helping us. Any cool ideas in the 15-20 dollar range for ushers/readers?
The week before the wedding, I have off, so I can run around and pick up our favors (locally made chocolate truffles! yum!) and put them in the boxes we have, and put together my bouquet, centerpieces, etc. as soon as I get the wholesale flowers (Tuesday, August 5).
I guess I''m pretty calm about these details, and last week when I was e-mailing with our singer for the ceremony and telling her that her check was already in the mail to the deacon, she said she wished all brides could be like me! Woo!
