Yesterday I checked the 10 day forecast for our outdoor wedding, and it had it as clear and pretty all the way through Friday before our wedding (the last day of the forecast). Today? It says rain scattered throughout the week, w/ 60% chance of rain on Friday, Saturday being sunny w/ only a 20% chance (which is about as low as they ever seem to go). I KNOW the forecast is going to change all over again by tomorrow, and watching and wondering if that possible rain is going to shift to Saturday is just going to drive me crazy.

So, my point is, 10 day forecasts should just be banned. They provide nothing but unnecessary stress. Argh.

hahaha! reminds me of a quote by lucy from the peanuts: "the world would be so much better if everyone just did things my way!" stop checking the weather--you've already set the date and time, so it's not like knowing the weather ahead of time will change ANYTHING. spare yourself the stress! and bring umbrellas just in case. big gold umbrellas!

ETA *golF umbrellas... i meant golf, haha.

I am sorry!

Thanks for the support, ladies. Doodle, I wish it was easy to just stop checking the weather, but it''s not that simple!! I''m also trying to keep an eye on where/when the next hurricane is going to roll in. My immediate family is all down in Florida. I don''t want them missing the wedding or getting stranded here in MI because they can''t fly home. I realize we can''t control the weather, so we shouldn''t stress, but there''s still that part of me that thinks maybe if we know it''s coming we can be that much more prepared.

The title of this thread cracked me up. I''m so with you - it''s like consulting a magic 8 ball to determine whether your family will be able to attend.

Actually, that sounds like a good idea, now that I think about it...

Haha, I remember waiting until I could see the 10-day forecast--it was a major milestone and then I checked it obsessively. I even made it my homepage, then refreshed it at least 100 times a day. And like you, I was checking the weather for all the cities where my relatives lived to make sure travel would be fine. It's exhausting!

It's tricky when there is rain in either side of the day of your wedding, because the rain seems to move around--it will be on a Friday, then it will move to Sat. morning, then bacak to Fri. night, it's maddening. Mine changed every day until about 3 days before the wedding (it settled on rain). And, of course, the weather was not at all what they predicted...instead of cooler and rainy we got warm and sunny...go figure.

I won't tell you to stop obessing over things you cannot control because I know that's impossible. I will say, however, that no matter WHAT the weather is, you are going to have an amazing day. My mentality was sort of just to expect the worst, so we were very happy when the worst didn't happen!

yeah. Our wedding day is set to be the ONLY rainy day between 5 or 6 beautiful, sunny ones. Which will be great for our outdoor wedding. Argh.

Forget banning the 10-day forecasts. They should ban the forecasters!! All they do is announce rain with great big smiles on their faces!!!

ladyciel, i TOTALLY understand--my FI''s little boy lives with the ex-wife just outside of mobile, and since they''re catching a lot of the nastiness, too, i''ve been checking it just as religiously as you. i just had to pick on you about it because my FI did the same to me, haha! he was like, "do you really think, if a hurricane lands on top of their house, that the outcome will be different if you just happened to be on weather.com at that exact moment!?" i told him to shut up and went right back to trolling doppler.

just remember that your wedding will be perfect rain or not!
