Hi everyone and welcome to September! Wow, so soon. We have a bunch of PSers weddings coming up, that is exciting! I hope everyone had a great week last week. First off let me carry this over from Buttercup, "Hi ladies! I know I don''t post in the weight loss thread ever, but I have been trying to lose weight and hit the gym more often - with mixed results... Anyway, I came across the Hundred Push Ups Challenge online (hundredpushups.com) and, since my dress is strapless and I want to tone my arms, I thought I''d give it a try.

Anyone done it before? It looks really good if I can stick to it. . . "

Any responses? I think it sounds pretty good because I know I want to tone my arms!!

So I''ve been bleaching my teeth. Owies. They''re pretty sensitive. I am taking the night off..my dentist said I''d be okay to take like one night off during it.

So hopefully it won''t mess things up. Also, noel those meatballs sound yummy!! Anyway, what are everyone''s goals for this week?

I definitely think a hundred push ups would have results: stronger arms. just don''t forget to eat healthy and do cardio as well so that you can see the muscle and not have fat covering it. your own body is a great free way to use as a weight.

in my ab toning exercises, I do planks which also help make arms and shoulders strong. was just discussing with FI cuz we lift weights, that we should count how many push ups we can do now and then see in a month how many we can do - in other words to check if the arm toning makes us stronger.

wow - bleaching teeth! was just commenting to FI yesterday how Americans have such white teeth on the tv shows. it looks really great. the dentists in Holland say it''s really bad, weakens the teeth, and shouldn''t be done until you''re much older (I''m almost 30 and that''s too young, apparently). but I was wondering if that''s really true since everyone of all ages in the U.S. seem to do it. do you know?

by the way, doctors in Holland also think that you don''t need to get breast exams until you''re over 50 and that eye correction surgery shouldn''t be done until over 40. and if you''re sick and go see your GP they just tell you to take an aspirin and sleep it off. so health insurance is really affordable here, but I''m not sure if it really pays off in the end.

Hi! Hmm..well my Dentist said that the one with the laser or whatever..I think it's called Britewhite or something like that does weaken teeth a bit. The problem isn't permanent mainly, but what it does is it opens up the teeth and makes them sensitive. The bleaching also makes the teeth a bit sensitive to cold, but it lasts during and only a few days after. If it's going on longer than that you can get a fluoride treatment, but my Dentist said he's never had anyone need that. They are having me use extra fluoride toothpaste though just to make sure my teeth stay strong and not too sensitive, but I kind of had weak enamel to start with.

As for the age thing..not sure about that one, haven't heard that! But it's possible! My teeth were/are embarrassing by American standards so we're kicking it into high gear to get them pretty by the time of the wedding. So far it's working! I can't imagine what it's going to be like to smile in pictures with my mouth open. I am excited!

ETA: One thing! I can definitely concur the eye correction surgery. My eye-doctor told me that if you get it done it generally lasts around 20 years. So if I had it done now it'd be gone by 40ish..so that sounds right about waiting until later.

Hey ladies!

That 100 push up challenge sounds pretty cool actually I might check that out. I''m terrible @ push ups, and haven''t lifted any weights since I quit my gym. But after my race this weekend, I''m hoping to join back up with a gym. We''ll see...

I have my triathlon this weekend in Lake Geneva. Just booked our hotel rooms. Today I''m going to go swimming for only the 2nd time during the "training" phase. Hopefully I''ll be able to do a BRICK tomorrow or Weds, and then shut it down until the race. Haven''t joined a gym yet, so can''t really do yoga or whatever. Aw, shucks.

Sarah, I was thinking of bleaching my teeth too. I''ve still more than a year till my wedding, but how long is it supposed to last for? Will it be okay if I finish the regimen a month before my date?

Hi lliang and noel!! So I have a bleaching-update since I last posted. I started feeling cold sensitivity to the extreme in one of my front teeth that had a filling in it, so I called the dentist. Apparently..it''s normal cold sensitivity still, so they told me to alternate and do one day on and one day off of the bleaching. They said it will take a bit longer, but it''ll still work. I also might have used a bit too much bleach on that tooth..which I suspected.

Owies!

So other than that my teeth have been happy still.

The dentist said it''ll last until the wedding (which for me is over 200 days), but some people like to touch it up every like 6 months or so for a few days. So you could do it for just about a week or so before the wedding depending on how much bleaching you need. I needed a bit, so I am doing 2 weeks worth total. So far I am 7 days in and seeing a big difference in my opinion.

It''s kind of expensive was about $300 for the trays and the bleach total, but when you want to touch it up all you do is pay like another $20 for bleach if you don''t have any left. I will probably have enough left I think.

Hope that helps some!

So as for my exercise routine. I''ve been doing okay this week. I''ve been taking the stairs instead of elevators 90% of the time which is good. I am finally adjusting to my new class schedule sleep-wise.
3.gif
Took long enough, right? I was falling asleep the first few days in classes!

But the bad news is..my allergies are crazy and my allergy-related, overweight-related asthma has returned. I''ve barely been able to breathe when I went up the stairs the past few days. It''s so frustrating!! I don''t know where it came from, it''s all of the sudden. I''ve been trying to use my inhaler, but I''ve got a cough and I''m just not sure the inhaler is even that''s working. So frustrating! I didn''t have the problem when I was RUNNING on the treadmill..so why am I having it going up stairs? Arrrrgh I hate stairs!
29.gif
Maybe it''s the added weight of the bookbag..or the allergies. I don''t know. Anyway. How is everyone''s week going? What did everyone do for labor day? Almost Friday!

Sarah: maybe where you take the stairs there''s currently some stuff in the air that you''re allergic to.

I''m a real wuss so don''t know if I could handle bleaching my teeth... but I went to the dermatologist this week to ask if I can get a birthmark on my face lasered off. he recommended a special clinic so I am really psyched! I thought they''d send me away and say it''s impossible.

so here was my day at the office: this guy comes running onto the floor "Help! Help! I burned my hand in the elevator!" His hand was all red and people were putting his hand under water. Some people tried to call reception but no one picked up. Then he was saying there was smoke on the 2nd floor. We finally figured out he was an actor and that is was a fire drill, but he sure scared the living crap out of us.

I''m flying out to Singapore on Sat for work so you probably won''t hear from me for a week. unfortunately I can''t watch what I eat there as the food is way too good and too cheap, but hopefully I won''t gain as much weight as the last time I was there. I do plan to continue to do my exercises and some swimming in the hotel pool.

Hey gals! So I have good news and bad news.

Good news: Noel I think I might have discovered that first off it is allergies. I have been inside for the past two days..and feel MUCH better. So it MUST be allergies. Also! One of my friends said that construction does make asthma worse..and there''s construction across the street from the stairs. I feel a bit better about that now! I''ve lost the lbs I gained while at home! I got on the Wii fit today and weighed and I''m back down and actually to my lowest yet. I only have 9 lbs more to meet the goal I set in May!

Bad news: I discovered a very yummy cupcake place. I bought 2 cupcakes and a cookie.

Noel that fire drill is hilarious, but I would have been really scared, too! I hope your flight went safely and have a good time in Singapore! Do you mind taking some pics? I''ve heard it''s beautiful! How is everyone''s weekend?
