It seems I broke my promise as I am later than ever today. Wish there was a blushing face..

I am sorry everyone! I was out of town through yesterday and so exhausted when we got back. Here''s the semi-bad news..I am going out of town again next weekend and will probably be back around 2-3 AM on Sunday. So..if someone would like to take over next weekend to keep things running smoothly, let me know! If not, then I will have the thread up by Monday.

Anyway, back to business.

mjso: I totally understand what you''re saying about exercise. I have a gym at my apt complex..and sometimes I am like ooh maybe I''ll go. Or maybe I''ll go to the pool..and then I see the bed..and the nap calls me.

naps. Did you end up eating out? We''re about to drastically cut our budget and stop eating out. We buy food to cook..AND THEN STILL EAT OUT! So horrible, right? I am just so lazy and so is he when we get home. Oh well, we can do this. I agree with you though that you need to eat more. Eating like 5-6 small meals a day is better than 2 larger ones because it keeps the metabolism going. Would you be willing to try that?

noelwr: It sounds like you are making some great progress!! It may not be 100% clear, but it sounds like you are looking great to me. Please keep up the good work and don''t lose motivation!

Erica: How is your Grandpa?

All right all. So here''s my question this week if you''re interested..what''s your realistic long-term goal? If you don''t have one, what''s your short-term goal?

Thank you so much for asking about my grandpa. He is kicking butt and taking names! I''m working with the driver''s insurance company to get things sorted out and so he can focus on getting better. Tonight I made him one of my handmade cards. It has a picture of a whale on it and says "Get Whale Soon!" ha! I love puns.

I''m not sure if it is from treating the thyroid or from tweaking my antidepressants, but I feel better today than I have in a while. I wasn''t quite up to going for a walk or to the gym, but after work today I did not take a nap! This is major major progress from the girl who would come home from work, nap, get up to fix dinner, then go right back to sleep.

How are you doing?

EricaR, I''m so glad he is doing alright. How are you though? Have you started your treatment?

To answer Sarah''s question of the week, my short term goal is of course to stay in my current size to wear my dress next year. I had it made to measure, so I can''t sway. Although I''m detecting a growing pouch on my tummy

My long term goal is to be able to have a healthy pregnancy when the time comes. My friends who were not that active before pregnancy gained over 30 lbs, couldn''t walk from the parking lot, became diabetic, etc. I don''t want to be like that. I want to jog while I''m pregnant, I want to be one of those people who don''t show until their 8 months into it, and I want to be active as soon as I give birth. Plus, this way I''ll be more likely to have a smooth labor. My cousin had a mere 3 hour labor for her first child, and 30 minutes after she had given birth her question was "So doctor, when can I start running again?". That''s my goal.

On a longer term, I want to be 60 and not get tired traveling. My mom is 57, and she gets so tired by just shopping. I want to check into a hotel and say "Okay, lets go sightseeing! Chop chop!"
Also I want to be able to play Frisbee with my grandchildren.

Hi everyone!!

Erica, I'm happy to hear your grandfather is doing well. And you too!

Choro, those are some great long-term goals. Good luck with it!!!

Yesterday I hauled a$$ on my bike to get new running shoes. FI went to a bike store to get his new road bike. He was supposed to go with me to the running store, but it was taking a long time and 30 mins before the store closing time, he calls me and says, "You can go to the running store. I'll be another 20 mins." Great! I've got 30 mins to bike 3.5 miles. I did it in 15 mins. I kept the same pace coming back, so that was 7 miles in about 30 mins. Pretty decent seeing I had to stop for lights and traffic. The good news is I got my running shoes so I can hit my weekly run today. Also I grabbed some info on upcoming races. There's a Tues night 5K up north on the Lakefront that I think I'll turn into weekly BRICKs. I really need practice on those...

To answer Sarah's question... Short term goals is to kick ass on the tri we're doing Sept 6th. It's just a sprint triathlon, so nothing really wow, but I want to beat my time by a few mins.

Longterm goal, actually get into running and/or maintain a workout routine that doesn't fall off at the end of summer.

Erica: That is great news!! I am so glad your Grandfather is doing great and that you are picking up a bit!

I am feeling really tired. Sigh. I wanna go back to sleep myself!! Thank you for asking though.

Choro: I think your goals sound great! I also want to be in-shape when I have kids. I told FI we BOTH have to lose weight to have kids, we can''t do it at this weight and level of fitness.

lliang: Wowow, you biked a long way in a short amount of time! Man that is awesome about your shoes, too. I am glad you got new shoes. The old ones were causing shin splits right? Bad bad. I probably need soem new shoes myself. Anyway, are you excited about the tri? Also, have fun at the 5k tonight! Your goals sound great as well.

hi...
35.gif
here I am on a week day.

SarahLovesJS: I''ll create the new thread on Sunday. no problem.

my long term goal is to look awesome in my wedding dress (on 12 Sep 2009). as it''s strapless, I have to make sure my arms and shoulders look good. is there any way to get rid of the flappy bits on the underarms or is that just lots of cardio as well?
and overall, I want to look toned (nice abs in a bikini). so not going for the thin look (Angelina Jolie looked scarey in WANTED), but for the healthy just very slightly muscular look. it''s a stretch, but I''m going to try.

by the way, a good way to make your muscles look good is to get a nice tan. I started a membership at a tanning salon near my house (which I will ride my bike to instead of taking the car once/twice per week) and that will help keep my motivation up.

by the way, can anyone recommend good walking shoes (like power-walking)? I will be in the States end September and shoes are so much cheaper there. I tend to go with Reebok, but if anyone can recommend something else I''d love to hear it.

noelwr: Thank you!!

I need to work my arms, too. Woohoo! I should get started on that one..
12.gif
To get rid of the flappy arms I would suggest arm toning exercises. I think it was lliang that had some good ones. But that''s really the bicep area I believe, so any exercises for that should work! Lliang just bought some new shoes so she''s great for that as well! I have Nike Dart V''s..I don''t know if they still sell them (bought them about 8 months ago), but I love them. I do more walking than running obviously, but these are running shoes.

what happened SarahLovesJS?

well, I've replaced my walking this week with biking. I push myself so there's a continuous burn in my legs (until I have to wait at the stop light) and I do everything in 3rd gear (it only has 3). the only thing I get with walking is a stitch in my side the whole damn time. so I think I like biking better. biked 9 km (6 miles) each day the past 2 days.

Not sure, the thread died for some reason..so I was trying some CPR.
3.gif
Anyway, haha. Wow that''s a lot of biking, that is awesome!
36.gif
I''ve just been doing my average walking around and trying to keep up with that..haha. It''s been a busy week. Ahh and it''s going to be a crazy weekend!!! I am hoping to swim some on Saturday for some good exercise.
5.gif
What are your plans for the weekend?

Friday night I went for another lady''s hen''s drinks (she is getting married on Saturday) and yesterday we went shopping in Dusseldorf and bought a lot of cool utensils for the kitchen but all of that fun meant no exercise those two days.
38.gif

so did my ab exercises this morning. having not done them for 3 days (usually I do them every other), I really felt that I had gotten much weaker and had to exert myself more! then I went to the tanning salon. it is rainy here today so not sure if we''re going for a bike ride or not but if there''s a dry patch during the day, I''l be out there.
