Hello all and welcome to another week! I hope you haven''t become too annoyed by my lateness and absence. So I''ve lost 5 lbs according to the Wii and my bathroom scale. Yaay..so I treated myself to brownies and Chinese. Not so good and counterproductive I know, but I am feeling rather blegh still. Oh well! FI hasn''t been feeling too well either I think we''re passing a bug around. I am feeling better than I was last week though, so yay that! I am hoping to go swimming tomorrow.

So here''s how my weekend went:
We ate pretty well until Saturday when we went to the local Mexican restaurant and ate way too many taquitos(sp) and chips. Oh and cheese dip, yum. Then I drank a bit that night, FI made daiquiris with fresh strawberries and I had a rum and coke later. Oh well. BUT I did get some exercise in because I had an impromptu dance party and we danced for like an hour or two! Yay! FI is learning how to dance. Poor FI.

At least I have a year to teach him. I did have some good news this weekend which I will post in another thread since it''s less applicable. So anyway, I plan to get back on track tomorrow.

Here''s the question of the week: What''s your favorite meal for dinner? Preferably healthy, but otherwise works too.

Hope all of you are well!

Hey Sarah! Wow! Go you with the 5 lbs! That''s AWESOME! I still haven''t been able to shed any pounds but I do feel healthier so it''s still a good reason for me to keep it up. Didn''t do much working out wise since I had a friend in town. I did bike 6 miles to my sister''s place. She was leaving yesterday for a 2 month travel assignment. Sad...

We''re twins so we''re pretty close.

Favorite meal...? Hm that''s a toughie. My favorite cuisines are Morrocan, Chinese, Indian, and now (somewhat) Italian. But I don''t think I can settle on one dish in each of those categories. Too many good choices! :)

Great job, Sarah!!!! That is awesome! I haven''t lost either and I''m definitely hanging onto some water weight right now. I plan on swimming every day that I can at lunch and also do some walking/jogging in the evenings.

lliang - good job on the bike!

lliang: That is awesome about the bike, I agree! It doesn''t really matter about the lbs if you feel healthier, I''ve lost 5 and don''t. Haha. So hey there we go, I''d trade with you if I could! Oh well, I''ll get there. I gained .9 back according to the Wii. It''s either water weight or the brownies caught up with me.

I am sorry your sister is leaving! That must be rough, but wow that''s so cool that you''re a twin! I''m an only child, so I always wanted a twin when I was little. I thought that would be so cool. You''ll have to make sure you talk on the phone a lot. :) I''ve never tried Morrocan or Indian food, there''s an Indian restaurant near us that''s supposed to be really good. What''s your favorite Indian dish?

Courtney: Thank you!

Wowow I just saw your other thread and you have less than 2 weeks to go that is so exciting! Sounds like you''ve got some good exercise planned, just don''t overdo it. Make sure you take time to relax before the big day!

Sarah, Oh goodness! Favorite Indian dish... There''s too many!! I''d probably say something between Channah Marsala (chickpeas), Mutter Paneer (green peas) and Lamb Qorma. The chickpeas & lamb dish can be spicy, but the green peas are usually not hot. All Indian food is very aromatic with all the spices so I love it. For people who''ve never really had Indian food before, your best bet is to start off simple. I think it''s best to start with street fair food/snacks. Y''know stuff you''d get at a carnival or something. Those are mostly simply prepared because there''s usually no elaborate kitchen or anything. That''s my plan with FI because he totally doesn''t like Indian. Which is too bad because like I said, I LOVE it. So I''m starting him on samosas, and behl and other snacks. Then slowly introduce him to the Tandoor style, then finally switch to the curry/chaat dishes. Sigh... So much work. Sometimes I marvel at how unwilling he is to try stuff...

Yes my sister and I are very close so I am quite sad that she''ll be gone for so long. But she does have to come back in 2 wks to go to a friend''s wedding we''ll both be attending
36.gif

Actually we''re making a tiered cake for their rehearsal dinner so she''ll be back early to help make those. Kinda fun. I like baking. Haven''t started planning what the wedding cake is going to cost me, but I really wish I could make my own wedding cake. I have a sinking suspicion they cost like $500-$700, and I know I can make a kick a$$ cake for probably $300. It''s totally not FAIR!

Congratulations on 5lbs!!!

I did fairly good this weekend. We went to a crappy Japanese restaurant for Saturday lunch, and we cooked for the rest of the weekend. some sort of meat, veggies, and rice. I didn''t even snack on Saturday.

My knee is almost healed, but my hand still needs more time so no swimming again this week

I''m more mad about the fact that I paid for membership for the entire summer, and now I feel like I''ve wasted my money. Bleh.

Glad to hear some successes here! Congrats ladies!

I, alas, have a sprained wrist. It started to hurt while working on my computer (I''m still here though...) but I think I may have aggravated it when I fell a week ago and caught myself with my hand... and yoga probably too. So it''s going to be a less intense week. I can do a lot of my workout still, but not anything that is weight bearing on my hands.

Hi girls! So I''m pretty new to this forum and I have seen the weight loss thread popup every now and then... and I want in! What do I have to do? Just post about what I did for the week eating/fitness wise? I need some sort of weight loss support group, so this thread looks good!

Basically I have a year to lose 15 lbs and tone up. I actually made an appointment at my gym for tomorrow to get weighed and my body fat percentage checked and after talking with me they will make me a new fitness routine. Woohoo!!!

Cass, welcome!!! We''re here to help you stay motivated and to listen to each other grumble about things in general :) It''s actually really fun. I like posting on this thread :)

SumBride, Sorry you hurt your hand! Hope it feels better. Did anyone take a look at it, or is it just a "rest and don''t push it" kinda thing? Maybe you can ride a bike or powerwalk until your wrist gets better. Not cool yoga, but it''ll be something. Oh! Duh!! Ask your instructor about doing yoga with your wrist problem. He''d probably be able to change some exercises for you. (side note, why do I always not spell ''exercise'' properly?? In my head, i know what it is, but I type a ''excercise'' everytime! Thank God for spell check.)

Yesterday I did my first BRICK (bike & run). BLECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a nice day for it, but MAN did that suck. I never did them for the sprint triathlon I did and was HORRIBLE on the running part. FI signed me up for the Lake Geneva Tri yesterday! No turning back now. GOD! it SUCKED BIG TIME!!!!! My shoulders were really tired from riding hunched over trying to avoid ppl on the lake front path and my legs did NOT want to run. Even today my legs don''t want to go anywhere. I''m going to try yoga today to loosen up a little.

My mom told me that for the couple of weeks before the wedding, I would be so anxious/nervous/excited that my appetite would decrease (not that she thinks it needs to), but mine is doing just the opposite!!!

I''m eating everything!!!

Cortney, as long as you''re eating healthy stuff, it''s not that bad. Keep drinking water, that always keeps me from mindless munching.

So I had that appointment at the gym today... the one where they poke and prod your fat
38.gif
And it was worse than I thought! But the trainer is making me up a new fitness program, so I''m really excited for that. I''m also thinking about doing a small group personal training class. It''s extra money, but supposedly it will kick my butt, which is what I need since normal exercise doesn''t seem to be helping me. She said it''s probably because I don''t have that much to lose and I''ve been working out for years, I just need to shock my body, do something completely different. From the couple of people I have talked to who have done this small group personal training thing (4-8 ppl in a group), it kicks your butt.

Won''t hurt to try, right?

Courtney: I heard the same thing your mother said and it worked that way for my fiance''s sister and brother in law (he couldn''t eat a thing! He''d just throw it up every day for a week before the wedding. He was SOOO nervous). But I''ve also heard the opposite and I''m dreading that happening to me!

Thanks for the welcome lliang!
35.gif

Oh and today, while at the gym, I did my 40 mins of cardio and when I got home I took the dogs for a half an hour walk.

lliang: Wowow! I will research some of these dishes and the menu at my local restaurant. The next time I am in an experimental mood I will go try it out!
36.gif
Well at least you get to see your sister in 2 weeks that''s great! And oooh I love baking, too!
36.gif
Is Chicago really expensive? I am hoping to find a cake for $350-400. I refuse to spend much more than that honestly.
14.gif
38.gif
It''s just a cake, you know? Well I know you feel the same way. Have you had coca cola cake?! Wowow the bike and run sounds intense!

Choro: Thank you!! Yeah Japanese restaurants here..well where I am..are mostly NOT like Japan. haha. I hope your knee and hand heal more quickly so you can go swimming!! You''ll get to the gym, don''t worry!

Sumbride: Thank you! I am sorry about your wrist!
39.gif
Take it easy on it definitely. Poor wrist.
14.gif
FI actually hurt his wrist too somehow, and then I grabbed it when we were talking and he was like "OWWWWWW!" Oopsie.
6.gif
Anyway, hope it heals fast!

Cass: Welcome!!

Just post yep, that''s all we do! We just talk about whatever is going on and any ideas, etc. That''s awesome that you''re getting a training plan! It sounds like the small group is intense, but it works. I say go for it. Sounds like you did great today!

Courtney: I''m with lliang, try to drink a bunch of water and if you''re craving sweets eat fruit instead of chocolate!

Hello all!

Last night FI and I went to the pool for about an hour, so that was fun. It wasn''t intense swimming or anything, but it was some exercise which is better than none. Our dinner was pretty bad (and I made it so I can''t complain) and cheese-filled woopsie. But my lunch today was a bit better, a PB&J sandwich. Aside from the peanut butter it wasn''t that bad. So anyway, I am off to class and whatnot. I will be back later! :)

Courtney- I couldn''t eat the last couple of weeks before my wedding. My body just didn''t want food. But then I''ve seen the tv shows where the bridezillas can''t quit eating... so your mileage may vary.

lliang_chi and Sarah - thanks for the good thoughts! My co-worker, an EMT, diagnosed my sprain, but I haven''t been for an x-ray or anything. Sort of wait and see. I have it wrapped and am doing the RICE thing, but my dr. appt isn''t until the end of NEXT week. If it still hurts then, it''s more than a sprain. I would have preferred to get in earlier, but these specialists... they''re popular!
20.gif
I haven''t decided if I should go to yoga or not on Saturday, but I guess I can wait until then to decide. I''m sure I could skip the mat work and just do the standing poses.

well, this week we had an offsite workshop at a 5 star hotel and they served us so much good food for lunch and dinner and had rich chocolate brownies and muffins available during the breaks. it was really bad (it tasted good, but it was bad for someone wanting to lose weight). anyway, for some strange reason I gained only one pound. I was a good girl and did my legs and abdominal toning exercises every day.

I have started lifting "weights" hoping to get more defined arms. FI bought a dumbbell and I do the lightest weight, but I do 90 lifts per arm. my arms don''t hurt afterwards but FI says to wait at least 2 weeks before adding weight.

anyway, so there is no point in defining your muscles if you can''t see them under all your fat, so I have to start doing cardio. I won''t jog. so instead I decided I would just try and start walking really fast - as fast as I can. I did this for 40 minutes today so think if I do this every other day and keep up my toning exercises, it should be ok.

my favorite meal for dinner that is healthy will most likely involve fish and vegetables (can be from the Chinese) but definitely no rice, potatos or bread. (though I have actually have a passion for potatos, be they baked, french fries, chips, fried, mashed...mmmm

sumbride: your stretching kitty is so cute!
