Any thoughts on this diamond sapphire combo?

I haven't posted in quite a while, but am finally getting around to starting another jewelry project and would love some opinions. I've been wanting to get a 5-stone band for years, collected 5 OECs to use, but I sort of feel a lot more excited about using sapphires and diamonds instead of all diamonds. I recently picked up these little sapphires on LT and I think I really like the combo. What do you guys think? Do the proportions work? Thinking about bezeling them, would the sapphires look ok bezeled? The measurements are 5.3 for center, 4.5 for the sapphires and 4.2 for the smaller diamonds. Also any ideas on the setting?

Liking this combo a lot. Reminds me of the wedding band upgrade I did for my wife last July for our 5th anniversary from a plain 22kt yellow gold band to an 18kt white gold 5 stone band. Though in my case, it's the reverse number of diamonds to sapphires (3x natural Ceylon sapphires and 2 x round brilliant diamonds).

Yours will look beautiful when set!

This will be one killer band! Love the combination and the sapphires are sub a pretty blue! I also have a graduated five stone in the making and have been unable to make up my mind regarding the setting (and at this point, I might even scratch the project altogether to upgrade my center stone, but that's a topic for another conversation :) )
Regarding setting, I love the trellis settings, like this:http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/wedding-and-anniversary-bands/eternity-bands/five-stone-trellis-band-ii-5400
U-prong, like this: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/wedding-and-anniversary-bands/eternity-bands/classic-5-stone-18k-white-gold-5446w18
And I especially like this "Stella" setting by CVB: https://www.etsy.com/listing/199771188/cvb-id-stella-old-european-and-mine-cut?ref=shop_home_active_45

It's going to be an amazing ring regardless which setting you choose!

Such pretty stones!! I don't love bezels for more than 3 stones in a line; gets to be too much.

I agree with the above.

I agree with this. I think it is a gorgeous color combination (and wow love that blue!) but bezels might be too much for a 5 stone. My choice for the metal would be platinum (my first choice) and white gold (for the second choice). The white metal will complement the beautiful blue.

Thank you for your thoughts! Definitely going with a white metal, platinum would be my first choice too if I can make the budget work.

Simone, the CvB Stella is one my favorites, definitely thinking along those lines! Looking for other similar designs too.

I like some of the prong settings too, but given the extremely thin girdles on the old diamonds, think the bezels may offer better protection.

I will go against the grain a bit, and say that if the bezels are thin vs. bulky, I wouldn't omit that option. They just need to be done right so as not to overwhelm the ring and take away from the stones. If you're set on bezels, perhaps take a spin through the 'show me the bezels' thread to see how some were done vs. others, and by whom, to get a sense of how they would/should look, and who you might consider for creating the ring to ensure it is done right. :wavey:

Definitely looking into very thin bezels! So far CvB seems to be the one to go to for an antique looking bezel band. I'd love any other recommendations!

I don't have any additional suggestions, but I just wanted to say that the color of the sapphires is beautiful and no matter what you choose, this will definitely be a spectacular ring! ::)

I don't think you mentioned your ring size but that might have some impact on whether a 5 stone bezel ring will work for you or not. I have a 5 stone bezel set ring that I really like but I have a size 6 finger so not tiny. As long as the bezels are thin I don't think they would over power your stones and would be very pretty in white metal.

I'm a 6.5 on the right hand, where I plan to wear it, I suspect it should fit even with a bezel.

And thanks for the complements on the sapphires! They were such an amazing deal, I really didn't expect them to be this pretty. They do often shift to more violet, especially in fluorescent lighting, but I think I'm okay with that.
