Consolation money to the "losing" jeweler? | Page 3 ...

As far as compensation or consolation in an attempt to show appreciation for his efforts, in line with some of the advice I've received here, I decided to offer him the opportunity to handle the custom setting (it was he who initially suggested a custom setting), and when we met on Saturday to take what was the final look at his 1.52, we ...

Consolation money to the "losing" jeweler? | PriceScope Forum

The stone from the out-of-state jeweler is a 1.85 E VS1 (it's a good VS1 as it's difficult for me to find the GIA cert-listed inclusions in a loupe), for a total price of $17,800. From my dealings with this jeweler, all via email, my impression is that this is a fair deal for everyone, and I tend to believe that.

The higher crown of the 1.85 gives quite a bit more sparkle from the table facets, no doubt, in person, too. However, the jeweler's opinion of the 1.85 was that it was poorly cut, that he noticed the high crown immediately, and that fact reduced its value quite a bit and it was way over priced at 17,800.

My diamond is pregnant! | PriceScope Forum

I like the idea of a diamond being pregnant. I'm waiting on a diamond that's I've had custom cut and it has a tiny crystal inside it as is only inclusion. My husband and I keep joking that our diamond is pregnant too! I hope you find your dream diamond. Its out there somewhere waiting for you to find it and love on it!

@Venzen007 I would second reaching out to Caysie (CvB Inspired Design). She is a fabulous artist with a great eye, and as noted has churned out some stunning pendants and other pieces. Where I think she would be ideal here is if you have some sort of personal detail or motif you want in the design that is meaningful to you/your wife, she is awesome about creatively incorporating such elements.

But it's not the ridiculously cheap prices that you would get if buying a suit in Hội An (we're talking nice quality, full canvas, Italian wool 3-piece custom suits for $150, beautiful custom dress shirts for $15-20, etc) and the tailoring won't be quite as good, as they're not taking the measurements themselves and doing the minor touch-ups ...
