...and you have to spend it on a gemstone purchase. What do you get? You can share a photo or describe in words. :)

silksaphire's saphire with the setting. I wish I had time to find a picture -- maybe later, but I bet you know which ring I mean.

You've all got good taste. I don't know what I'd choose. I'd probably spend 30k on a top quality demantoid and 70k on a large alex that's not too dark.

ETA: Ah, but I'd also consider a high quality black opal.

LK, your $70k is pretty spot-on in terms of a large alex. :naughty: ;-) Did you see the one Gene posted from AZ? He didn't buy it, but it was very close to your "budget."

I'll have to ask him if I can somehow buy it through him :cheeky:

In all honesty though I'm not such a fan of this one's colourways from the photos. However, alex is also very difficult to photograph so I bet it looks better in person. Thanks for sharing.

Ah, ok. I would imagine it'd be difficult, so I'm sure it did. Anytime!

This opal, ruby and sapphire, please. Thank you. :D

That's a lovely sapphire

Or maybe this (IIRC) 0.19ct vivid green diamond, which was about 60k.

Ooooooooooooo! I'd need a whole separate budget for FCDs, LK! ;-)

I'd take this one home in a heartbeat. Not to mention a small blue pear they have, too.

Maybe this one? :D Green does not leave me alone right now. 5.1 carat Russian Ural demantoid, encircled by a single row of six white and six fancy colored old cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 1.80 ct. Would take that vivid green diamond any day.

I'd get this and have fun trying to find something else for the remaining $50k

I'd wait for this to go on sale:

http://www.leibish.com/blue-diamond/224ct-very-light-blue-pear-if-151108-20822

2.24 carat, Very Light Blue, Pear Shape, IF Clarity, GIA, SKU 151108

A terrific 2.24ct Very Light Blue pear shape diamond with GIA graded Excellent Polish, excellent symmetry and GIA IF clarity. A real gem stone with a visible blue color, and fabulous sparkle and luster. For more information about this item please contact our customer service department.
Price $112,100

Then I'd save up for a pink diamond halo from Leon, in rose gold.
