I'm adding a couple of photos of my OEC (GIA graded L). Looking at it still takes my breath away. It was a gift for our 50th wedding anniversary.

Hello,

I'm a long time lurker and this is my first time posting about my ring. Several months ago, my husband agreed to have my e-ring reset. So everyday, I would look at rings after rings in this forum to get some inspiration. Finally, I found one that spoke to me and it was Frankiextah's ring. Thanks to Frankie's detailed posts (stats, comparisons, etc), it led me to know what I want. Also thanks to all the PSers who raved about Victor's work and craftsmanship, it gave me the confidence to pull the trigger. So I contacted Victor via his website and I received a quote within 10 minutes.

Victor was beyond amazing. He was very attentive to my needs, detail oriented and knowledgeable. He was also gracious enough to allow me to bring my 2 sons (3 y/o and 7 mos) in his office when I picked up my ring. When I saw the finished product, I was so excited and giddy inside (obviously I had to keep my composure as not to embarass myself). After I picked up the ring, the boys and I went to my huband's office (which is a couple of miles away) to show him the ring. Not only did my husband want to see it but he wanted to show his co-workers the ring. Needless to say, he LOVED the ring. I think he was more excited than me because that night he just kept looking at it with a smile.

I love love love my new ring. I love the simplicity, daintyness and of course the finger coverage.

And Victor, if you're reading this...thank you! You made my year!

My ring stat:

Centerstone: 1.03 ct RB, E, VVS1
Melee: F-G, VS+
Size: 4.75

Well she said yes!!!

Here is the ring, right where it belongs. She was completely blown away!

Its a 1.04 G VS2 in a 14k setting with pave side stones and a pair of peek-a-boo diamonds.
The diamond came from www.goodoldgold.com and was set by a great local jeweler.

This beautiful ring would never have happened without the wonderful information and helpful advice of PS members.

So here are some specs on the ring:

Single-Cut vs Full Cut
- Single cut, 1.4mm

Going into this project, I knew I wanted single-cut stones because of what I read and saw here on Pricescope. However, when I asked Victor what he thought had more fire, he recommended full cut. I was confused because it conflicted with everything I learned about on here. I asked Victor to send me one of each stone in the size that would be on shank so I could evaluate the cuts in different lighting and determine which one I liked best.

I put together an apparatus to evaluate light-performance side by side. I used the bottom of a Styrofoam cup and created seats to hold the diamonds. This allowed me to view the diamonds face up next to each in the same angle. This was a lot of fun to do in the bathroom lighting. My immediate observation is that the full cut gives you a lot of fast, tiny, glittery sparkles, but not a lot of bold fire. Rotating the cup slightly, my eyes are attracted by the activity on the full cut, but once you rotate and tilt, the fire from the single cut outperforms the pin sparkles of the full cut. The other thing I noticed is that the full cut stone went black when I brought it outside. This didnt happen with the single cut. In the meantime, I did go back and forth between single and full, because I struggled making up my mind about what type of effect I wanted: fast and glittery sparkles, or slow, bold rainbow flashes. In the end, it was the single cut that won and I am so glad I chose single cut. They are worth the premium. Vanessa told me that she trusted my judgment on this.

Halo
- Flower shaped halo
- Tilted 25 degrees to give the halo more depth and organic look
- Shallow u-cut pave

The halo is the focal point and Victor executed this flawlessly. Of the rings I have seen, almost all floral rings are done with round brilliants or round OECs. I took a leap of faith by attempting to design this ring around a square cushion. I got the idea of tilting the halo from Frankie's posts and some info I gathered from JBeG's site. The tilting really compliments the high crown angle of the stone. I was really intrigued by how he was going to give the petals the rounded look I requested and I was very pleased with the use of different sized melee. Very little metal is shown on the halo, and on the ring in general. When I first contacted Victor, I requested fishtail pave, but then changed it because he recommended u-cut and also because I had never seen fishtail on a 3-row pave ring, and I wanted the same type of pave on all parts of the ring. I really like the u-cut, its elegant and doesn't take away from the profile of the ring.

Stems/Doughnut
- Curved stems
- Pave on stems and doughnut

I requested curved stems to compliment the floral theme and I love the way this part of the ring turned out. I initially didn't want a doughnut, but Vanessa insisted on this. The trade-off is that I don't think she will be able to wear a wedding band next to this ring.

Shank
- 2.6mm
- Pave stops at 5 and 7 o'clock
- Shallow u-cut pave

Vanessa and I have been to a lot of jewelry stores this year and the one thing we both agreed on was that we wanted the shank to be more substantial than your typical 2mm. I think the shank on this ring looks phenomenal and doesn't overpower the halo/center stone. Victor recommended not to go thicker than 2.4mm, but he agreed to make it 2.6mm. i am glad I stuck to my guts. We saw rings that were ~3.5mm that had 5-row pave, so I kinda knew what I was getting into with this width.

Metal
- 18K yellow gold

Because the theme of this ring is a mix of vintage and floral, I wanted to do something different from the platinum look. Victor told from me from the very beginning that he didn't recommend gold for various reasons, and I had this same conversation with several jewelers, but Vanessa and I love the way yellow gold looks on our skin. We plan to have our rings matching in the same metal, so platinum/white gold weren't an option for us here. Given that, I do understand that this ring will require even more delicate handling because of the fact the gold wears away over time. I plan to only soak the ring in a mild solution and steam clean. Victor recommended that brushing the pave with a toothbrush should only happen a couple of times a year. I don't think I am going to brush the pave at all.

Center Stone
- 1.524ct AVC
- K color
- SI2
- 1.018 ratio
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/8213/

The key to this ring was my selection of the center stone. I fell in love with AVCs through Pricescope and I spent months watching those videos on Vimeo. I decided the pull the trigger on the stone back in April once I noticed that prices were climbing daily. I am SOOOOOO glad I made that decision when I did, because GOG hasnt gotten any more stones in these specs, and at the price I paid. The K color really works with the yellow gold and the stone is completely eye-clean. There is a feather in the corner and even that is hard to see with a 10X loupe. I think Jon uses 20X magnification on his site. As any AVC owner can attest, the light performance of an AVC is mesmerizing.

thanks to PS i learnt how to be an educated and selective customer, but that didn't make for the easiest ring journey as certain vendors can't handle the amount of questions and details we discerning peeps require! that being said i did my research, used the PS diamond search and individual searches on each vendor sites religiously, updated those at least twice a day to look for new stones and played the patience game until the perfect stone came along.

and boy oh boy did it! after a harrowing journey of emails to and fro between various vendors, i finally found a round AGS000 1.23 H SI2 (eye clean with twinning wisps) through Union Diamond, and Tony Rixom there was a refreshing change from the other people i had spoken to previously. i suddenly felt like i wasn't walking on the journey alone and after 2 months of searching to finally talk to someone who understood what i was going for and gave me a stone about 0.2-0.3cts bigger than others could for the same price point was amazing. i think the persistence in searching really paid off as even Tony was surprised at my find and said that if this one sold, he couldn't provide anything remotely similar.

so without any further commentary, may i present my sparkly!! (as i have fondly nicknamed it). its icy white and has amazing light return, fire and brilliance.

My Friend just received her new upgrade from James Allen and thought I’d share this with you. James Allen did an amazing job in turn around, communication and they were just a pleasure doing business with. She is absolutely thrilled with all aspect of the ring and James Allen’s service! She says the prong is perfect in every way, delicate and everything about the ring process was smooth sailing! I think it looks absolutely perfect on her! Great proportions and of course love the yellow gold!

Stats:
1.41 I color VS2 hearts & arrows, AGS000 ring size 7
The setting here but requested 6 prongs instead: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/solitaire-diamond-rings.html
But we both thought the site looked a bit chunkier than it is IRL. In any case, she is thrilled to pieces and highly recommends James Allen!

I am IN LOVE! I don't know what I was so worried about!

He proposed today and the ring is prettier than I could have ever imagined!!

This is just a quickie iPhone handshot - still need to find my real camera. To my untrained eye, I truly cannot spot any inclusions. When Lynda said they were white and hidden within the facets, she wasn't kidding. All I see is whiteness and sparkle, sparkle, sparkle! I think the dark spots in the photo are a reflection of my sweater. This baby is pure white!

It's a 1.21 (7.78 x 5.75) D SI3(!) from GOG.

Just came back from an auction and got this ring for $6400. What do you think?

As per the appraisal:

Lady's 14K (stamped) white diamond ring containing:

- One princess cut diamond, gauging 6.70 x 6.68mm in dimension, est. weight 1.45 carats of I1 clarity, F color and Good cut.

- 8 round cut diamonds, gauging 2.50mm in diameter avg, est. weight 0.50 carats of VS clarity, F-G color and Good cut.

Total weight 1.95 carats, 4.300 g.

Wife loved it as the color looks amazing. I have no clue if I overpaid for it, or got a good deal!

Comments welcomed!

Before I show off the ring, I need to give the backstory

I contacted quite a few vendors here on PS and they were all great but just didn't have the particular halo cushion style that I was looking for. As I was looking through the "Show Me the Bling" section of this forum, I came across a BEAUTIFUL halo cushion engagement ring and I knew that was the one! Turns out it was a custom ring designed by Mark from ERD so I was certain it's out of my budget but I contacted him anyway to see how much.
Just after a few emails back and forth asking what particular style setting and center stone size I was looking for, he was able to give me a quote which was a GREAT price for a custom ring but still above my budget. However, Mark was able to make very slight adjustments to the ring to save on costs and even offer a military discount (as he was a member of the armed forces also) and got the ring right within my budget! I couldn't believe that a jeweler that I had no prior relationship with would bend over backwards to please his customer.
He was even willing to ship the ring before I made the full payment (had some unexpected issues with the bank) so I can have the ring in time for the planned proposal!

Now let's get to the ring. Wow... just wow. The pictures and CAD can not justify how beautiful this ring is. I was a bit nervous about if my fiance' will like the ring since she had no input on the type/size of the ring but she was completely speechless when she saw it. She has heard nothing but compliments wherever she goes (no exaggeration).

Now for the pictures.. (sorry I'm not the best photographer)

This little old lady has a new love. While celebrating our wedding date and staying at a mountaintop resort in NC last week, my sweet husband gave me this gift. But the design decisions and the purchase of the diamond were a good part of my summer activities. However, I didn't want to wear the ring until we were at our celebration location. Now if my computer skills are adequate, I'll post a few photos:

I wanted to update my RT thread and say thank you to everyone who helped me, most notably LGK, Gypsy, and Dreamer. And an extra HUGE thanks to MrsSalvo without whom I would not have found this ring!

The ring features an old cut diamond weighing between 1.32 -1.38 ct (7.09 mm) set in a vintage platinum mounting dating back to Dec 25, 1928 (per the engraving). The appraiser said the stone was an F-G, VS1 (despite a couple of microscopic nicks on the girdle). She called it an old european, but the good symmetry makes me wonder if it's more of a transitional cut? She also said that the mounting was made all by hand. The side stones are also old europeans weighing an additional 27 points. And the best part is that it cost well below my original 7k budget. I feel very lucky!

Hello, New to PS and very excited to show off my gorgeous new ring. I posted in 1-2ct centre stone thread as well.

Centre stone is 1.06 F SI1
2 sides are .51 & .52 E VS1
channel and surprise stones are unknown (anniversary ring and earrings from WAAAAAYYY back before I knew what I know now --- thank you PS!)
18 K wg/palladium
ring size 7.5

Its a redesign of my 20th anniversary e ring upgrade. A girl can't have enough diamonds, you know... oh wait - of course you all know!

She's a real beauty! I'm very happy (except the sides need to be thinner...not a fan of 'puffy'. Get enough of that with my hands - don't want it on the ring!)

So, like so many other people on this forum, I found Pricescope randomly through a Google search. I've been a lurker for a while now ! My boyfriend and I had discussed getting married a few times and once he got a promotion at work, he was ready to start looking at rings. He's such a nice guy that I could see him getting sucked in by a store salesperson and being sold anything! So, I researched on Pricescope and changed my mind a *few* times about what I really wanted. We also looked at stores around us, but the selection was limited and the prices were (I felt) high. I figured for his money it'd be best to get the biggest bang for his buck! When we looked around, I realized I wasn't really all that color sensitive, and figured that we (he! ) could take advantage of that and buy a bigger stone with a lower color, since I am tall and wear a size 8ish ring.

I read some posts on here about Brian Gavin's Blue selection and ended up stalking a 1.23ct L color almost obsessively! (It went on and off their site a few times, much to my dismay!). I blabbered about how since it was so well cut it would sparkle so well (his eyes glazed over during many a dissertation of mine!), but didn't really have anything to compare it to except some Hearts on Fire stones we drove a couple of hours to go see (talk about expensive...!).

Long story short, he bought the stone, chose the setting, and a couple of months later, proposed where we met (a laundromat, of all places!) and I am thrilled! Even the melee stones sparkle fabulously and I can't stop staring at the ring! I love the milgrain detail on the setting, since it gives it a bit of an antique-y vibe and (I think) a touch more sparkle! I do notice the color in some instances, and definitely from the side, and find that it's exacerbated in and around yellow or less white situations (like in my kitchen that has yellow walls). And the strong blue fluorescence is perhaps one of the neatest things I've seen!

First off thank you to everyone that helped my husband a few months ago. Moonshine99 was searching for a place to get an oval for my upgrade. After a lot of research and some design, I now have my perfect oval. If anyone is familiar with the movie The Time Traveler's Wife, the inspiration came from the movie as she was wearing an east/west oval.

Mine is also east/west set in platinum with a tapered or pinched center that I adore!! I apologize for the not so good pic but it's been cloudy and it's dark now

So after months of reading, researching, negotiating, phone calling and even a trip abroad, I finally made a decision as to which diamond to buy.

The stone I chose is a 1.10ct, J colour VVS2 set in a classic, plain 18k white gold size 6 ring.

I wasn't too sure about the diamond being a J colour, but after I'd seen it I just loved the way it looked. What sets it off is probably the fact that it's very well cut.

Hi there,

This is my early 25th anniversary upgrade (April anniversary!). I started my search early and found this vintage setting and fell in love.

The marq. is a 1.48, SI2 (eye clean), I color, med. blue flor. The baguettes are .20 each. The setting is platinum and circa late 40's-50's.

She is eye clean, but her 'flaws' pop out in macro setting pics, which make it harder to photograph, but in person it sparkles like crazy and is a beautiful diamond.

I know marquise diamonds are not 'in favor' at the moment, but as I was married with a marquise shape diamond and had been through several different shapes over the years, I felt nostalgic for my original e-ring when I saw this one and had to have it! Of course this one is a lot bigger than my original.

I don't have my wedding band yet, but I am playing with some different style bands until I find what I really want.

Hi everyone. I finally am able to post my 20th anniversary upgrade ring that I received on Tuesday. I purchased the diamond in August but couldn't decide on a setting. I ultimately figured out that no matter how many different options I was looking at my heart kept pulling me back to a simple, classic solitaire.

General Specs:
GOG AVC
1.66
SI 1
L
Trueste Solitaire in platinum
finger size 6 3/8

Let me start off by saying that it was a pleasure to work with Sarah at GOG. This was easily the smoothest high dollar transaction over the internet I have ever had. This establishment is first class all the way. The diamond is everything I thought it would be and more. Jonathan really knew what he was doing when he developed the August Vintage line.

The setting is the Trueste solitaire by Victor Canera. This man is amazing. He is very kind, patient, respectful, accessible, talented and a true gentleman. We traded what seemed like a million emails and even though I ended up choosing a relatively a simple setting compared to some of the intricate beauties he has done for other pricescope members, he never made me feel like I was less important. I signed the work order for the ring last Thursday. He told me it would be about 2-3 weeks for it to be done. The next day I got an email saying it would be done that weekend and it was mailed out to me the next Monday. The total time from order to my husband putting the lovely ring on my finger was less than a week! I love how the ring turned out - it is perfect for me. I will be ordering a wedding band soon and once I decide on the style, you can bet I will be calling upon Mr. Canera again!

Without further adieu ... please meet my upgrade.

My ring is on its way, somewhere between Houston and Chicago!

It is set with a 1.56 8.03x6.06mm H VS1 Emerald cut diamond (re-cut by BGD and then purchased by us on the secondary market)
My ring size is 4.5
The setting is unplated 14k white gold

So, I made a silly, dumb mistake. I accidentally ordered the Melissa (a half-round shank) when all along, I wanted the Melanie (knife edge shank!) So, so dumb. Its getting sent back before I see it to get knife edged, and then I won't see it again until he decides i get to
