Sorry about your weekend. Maybe your sister is upset because you won't listen to her about not bringing your dogs? You told me before you always do stuff for your sister. Maybe she's used you to compromising all the time? You spoiled her maybe. :???: I'm sure your mom and your sister will be fine. You guys are a family. Can't hate each other for too long.

Anyways, this is the recipe for the upside down cake. http://www.joyofbaking.com/PineappleUpsideDownCake.html I'm not used to this new format, can't insert URL... I use strawberry instead of pineapple.

For the Icon chef, we have two teams (4 in each team.) We have 3 judges. We only have 2 hours to make everything. The rules for this icon chef is we have to use the following ingredients: appy: shrimp, entree: salmon, dessert: cherry. The judges will comment, give scores and annouce the winner at the end. Then, everyone gets to eat the food. It was good. It's Icon chef season 2. We did one before.

yup. I teach 6 days a week. Some days I just don't need to teach as much because it's summer. Most students are away. I usually don't teach 'til later on. Today I start at 3:30

Isn't that good that.. it's slow there? You don't want it to be toooooooooooo busy.

4Ever -- How are you doing after the fight? I know things with your sister have been rough. Hope you can talk stuff out and she'll realize that she needs to grow up already.

Jessie -- family stuff stinks.

Fish feed was Saturday. 3 hour drive to get there and another 3 hour drive home but the weather was perfect -- 84 with a gentle breeze...
We helped with the set up, cooking, and clean up. about 42 people. Got to eat lots of yummy stuff (homemade lemon pie, banana creme pie, brownies, ginger snaps, onion rings...) Lots of great people, good food, nice weather -- just nice.
OOOOOOooh -- and we got to watch my 75 year old grandfather drive his just finished car in the parade! (he restores old cars, tractors, engines, pretty much anything) He won "best car in parade" and got a nice plaque!

4th of July celebration Sunday was a bit more mixed. Lots of great food and nice people. We enjoyed ourselves for the first 3 hours.
Then the daughter of a couple we thought were friends started a conversation and made it quite clear that she didn't like us. (and had messed with the guest list for the bat mitzvah we RSVPed to so that we showed up and weren't on the guest list :-o :nono: ). Her parents seemed to be avoiding us also.
So we thanked our hosts and headed home "to make sure the dog is inside before the fireworks start".
I sent our appologies and thanks to the host & hostess explaining what had happened (since they knew something was wrong when we left) and sent a different e-mail to the other couple in an attempt to open communications.

So it was a mixed weekend.

Today -- not so good. I'm running to the bathroom every 1/2 hour or so  . Not sure what did it (banana creme pie? potato salad? under cooked fish? too much dairy?) but I feel awful. Queasy and BLaah! I don't see how there could be much more to come out

I want to be home in the privacy of my own bathroom ;(

no plan yet. I'm taking him out for his b-day dinner this weekend. He's very busy at work, has two trials this week. That's why we can't celebrate his b-day. However, he's coming over tonight and I'm going to make him a b-day dinner though.

how 'bout you and you SO?

I'm not in the US so no 4th of July celebrations for me but I did have a rather interesting day; My sister and I had a fist fight in my parents house (it was a long time coming and it felt really good to give her a smack) and my BF told my dad that he wants to marry me.

I also went on a interview at a jelwery store yesterday which I think went really well so have my fingers crossed that I'll soon be employed :))

A little late to the game. A fist fight?? :o
And dust for the job interview!

we actually do have plans. We are going to see a tribute band called the " Iron Maidens"...get it? Thats friday night, and he has to work friday night, so he came up with a plan :Up_to_something: . He is going to give me a ride into work on friday, than ill take my lunch hour, and take him to work, and drive his car for the day(YAY). Than ill get all pretty, than go pick him up for work, and than we will go see the band. Which means, im driving as he is changing :naughty: ......HeHe..i love when he does that. We are gonna meet up with a few friends of ours( all married couples) and than go out to a bar that we like to go to that plays Live Music all the time. So now i gotta firgure out a cute outfit.

Awww, im sorry he has to work so hard this week. What are you going to cook for dinner? Any idea of where you are going to take him this weekend? Home cooked meals are the best sometimes.....haha, you should make the special engagement chicken though.

let me try typing with one hand. My lovebird BB is on my finger. (I just asked her to wave at you and she did  )

I think I'll make some kind of fish. I dunnno what yet!!! Lol. We're going to a French restaurant. What's the engagement chicken... I think you talked about that in one of your threads before...

Do you think your SO will propose then?

Hey... since you're a baker too, do you know any good recipes that you can share with me?

awwwwww... if i had my Doggie, he would wave or at least lick the computer screen.

That sounds yummy. Im not a fish or seafood fan, but i am trying to like it more since SO LOVES seafood. He would eat it everyday if i let him, actually he almost does, since i buy him the cans of sardines. Oooo, i love french food. There is a resturant here at a local casino called Cafe Mon Ami Gabi....the food is sooo good. But super pricey. I only get to go once in awhile.

I dont think he will ask this weekend. I truly dont know when he will ask. It would be cool if he did espically since we dont love music, and like this band, but i dont think so, but than again, i dont know....lol...

I have some receipes, most of what i cook is hand me down reciepes, but ill type some up and i can send them to you. Like, i have a reciepe for a summer pie, and tis so good. Its a cream cheese filing with a layer of Pineapples and Bananas, with a graham crecker crust....service super chilly. Its so perfect for summer. The only thing i dont like is, it needs to be eaten with a few days due to the bananas.

My SO LOVES seafood too. I'm ok. I don't hate them nor LOVE them. lol

Over the years, I have been making cheesecakes. Now, I can make cheesecakes with no cracks on the surface. It's probably very easy to do, but I'm so proud of myself after making a few crack cheesecakes.

Right after we picked up the ring, I really really want him to propose. I'll like ask him about when he'll propose everyday. But now.. I'm like... "watever, he'll propose when he will.." probably before July 24 anyways.

so.. what's the engagement chicken?

See, i wish i was okay with eating seafood....i just cant get past the fishy smell. No matter how hard i try. O well, he might just have to be okay with ordering ti when we go out for dinner, and the cans of sardines, and Squid i get him. LoL....See, ill make a good wifey, i at least buy the cans

Cooking Cheesecake with no cracks is super hard. I can bake a cake like no ones business, but cheesecake is so hard for me, espically since i get partical when it comes to baking. HeHe...so whats your secert when it comes to no having the cracks. HeHe, your making me want to bake now

Thats funny about asking him everyday. I think your SO has better patience than mine because he would tell me never if i keep asking. HeHe....even thought he wouldnt mean it. Yes, he will ask when the time is right. It just sucks its never in sync with our clocks.

Engagement chicken was a myth that if you cooked this special chicken, your SO would propose. I guess it was suppose to help speed it along or whatever. HeHe, i cooked it for SO, he didnt propose but went back for second and Thirds. Im sure you can google the directions for it. Its pretty much a simple lemon chicken.....its a little plain for my liking so i added some herbs....maybe thats were i messed up. LoL......

OMG!!! I'm gonna make the engagement chicken this weekend!!! I don't CARE!!!! lol I'm so desperate. :wink2:

the trick is... as soon as you have the eggs in, don't beat it tooo much... just beat until it's just right. Also, before you preheat your oven, put water in a pan and put the pan in the lower rack of the oven. This way, when it is baking, there will be moisture in the oven, so it won't crack. When the cheesecake is done, DO NOT open the oven door. Turn off the oven and just let the cheesecake sit there until the next day (or until the oven is back to it's normal temperature). So there won't be a sudden change of temperature. Since the cake will still be baking after you turn off the oven, minus 15-20 min to the baking time. When my friend told me, I tried that. IT WORKS!!!!!

ok.. I just googled the engagement chicken. It's too hard. I don't do whole chicken. lol. I wonder if I can do chicken fillet, chicken breast, or chicken wings instead. The whole chicken thing is too challenging for me. :o

remember.. don't beat too much too!!! If it takes an hour to bake, make it 40 min. It works for me. Good luck!!!

Okay, ill remeber...ill try tonight actually...

The chicken isnt too hard....get a little chicken or even a cornish hen, which is like a baby chicken. It sounds hard than it is....but its not...youa ctually just have to increase the cooking time. Hmmmmm, cornish hens its a good idea...

REMEMBER.. all the ingredients have to be in room temperture!!! It shouldn't be too hard for you since it's so hot where you live. :cheeky: It the cake looks a little bit "watery", it's fine. It will bake itself and you have to refigerate it anyways. 8)

I probably won't make the chicken... i'm too lazy... lol

I thought you're trying to make a cheesecake. BTW, the cake is good. My bf just left, he has to go home and prepare for his early trial tomorrow. Anyways, he LOVES the cake. It was very good. Not too sweet, just right. The texture is very light. I LOVE IT!!!

If the mousse cake is good, can I have the recipe? I've never made a mousse cake before!!!
