I don't really mind if it darkened a little and the bezel setting seems fairly open from the sides and bottom.

Also. I like the color best when o place the stone between my fingers which I've been told mimicks a bezel as opposed to when its in the gem holder which is more like prongs. Is that not true?

I tend to be grqvitating towards bezels lately because they sit lower.

I would not bezel a medium to medium dark stone. I think Barry said it goes medium dark in certain lighting, did he not? I would prong set it. I think Freke once advised against bezeling Barry''s spinels, but I forget her exact reasoning. It''s in a thread floating about somewhere.

Doh. You guys are killing me!

hmm. I may have to try to make a mock bezel and test it out because I really like that setting.

I don''t remember what your insta bezel was. But mine was just putting the spinel in the gem holder, and taping a sticker around all the edges. The real bezel would let in more light actually, but I figure this way I''ll know the worst.

Soo...I took a lot of pics. But I think it's ok to bezel based on the results.

This is the hallway

The last two pictures would make me shy away from bezel setting it. It''s only going to be bright and pretty in sunlight if you bezel it. I would stick with traditional prongs if it were my stone (I wish

And some side by side comparisons.

Barry described it as Med blue.

I much prefer the thinner rope version - that ring is gorgeous!

I see that it did darken quite a bit in the bezel away from the sun but continued to remain bright by the window. Personally, I don''t like my stone to appear that dark indoors but if you don''t mind it, then go for it because it seems like you really want to bezel it.
