Hi everyone,
DH and I will be in NYC over Labor Day weekend this year. We''re staying in Flushing (our friends'' post-wedding reception is there, so we wanted to stay there for convenience), but the hotel is only a couple of blocks away from the #7 Subway line.
We fly in to LaGuardia around 6:30pm on Thursday and fly out around 8pm on Sunday (so we won''t actually be there for Labor Day Monday). Our friends'' reception is on Saturday evening beginning at 6pm, but otherwise we have ''free time'' for NYC activities.
I''ve only been to NYC once before back in 1999 -- and just for a weekend then as well, but we packed a lot into that previous weekend. We went to the Intrepid Museum, the top of the Empire State Building, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (loved it!), the Natural History Museum (quickly, though, as it was nearing closing time), walked through Central Park, and saw Miss Saigon.
This time we want the pace to be a bit less hectic, but we still want to explore and see new things.
We know we want to see another show while we there -- that will probably have to be on Friday night, though a Sunday matinee is also a possibility. Any recommendations?
We''d also like one nice dinner out while we''re there, and then some good breakfast/lunch options that won''t break the bank.
What else should we do? Neither of us is a shopper (I really dislike shopping, and certainly do not want to do it on my vacations -- I know, I''m weird). Is NYC going to be crazier than normal because it is a holiday weekend? Anything we should know about Labor Day activities on Fri/Sat/Sun?
Thanks in advance!!! I''m really looking forward to going to NYC again. I loved it so much for that short weekend (as evidenced by our ridiculous activity list). DH grew up in CT, so he infrequently went to NYC as a child, but has not been since our trip in ''99 so he''s ready to explore as well.
