Welcome to part two of our Diamond Misconceptions post. Visit here for part 1 (https://www.pricescope.com/blog/5-diamond-misconceptions-part-1). We are discussing five more diamond misconceptions to help you stay on the path to finding the right diamond of your dreams. What advice would YOU give to a first time diamond buyer?

From the blog: https://www.pricescope.com/blog/5-diamond-misconceptions-part-2

Thanks for the link, Kayti!

I'm not sure but I think there might be an errant 'o' on the end of the number 8 section??

We hate to break it to you, but inclusions are not the big, bad wolf some people will have you to believe. Some prospective buyers hear that a stone has inclusions and instantly dismiss it. The key instead is to find which diamond grades include inclusions which can be seen with the naked eye (such as I & SI) as opposed to those which require a microscope to view any inclusions (such as VS & VVS). #10 is off and browns are more common than anything else.

6. rubies and sapphires - yes, but amethysts - no way - scratched to bits in 2 years.
Emeralds - worn with great care - find a relatively fracture free stone because they break easily and the fractures will be filled with oils that will come out in hand washing etc.

7. Many people - especially lovers of old cut diamonds like cape or yellowish diamonds.

8. too many people are frightened to buy a diamond with a small very hard to see inclusion and end up with one with microscopic cloudy hazy diamonds. Better to have a genuine SI1 with an inclusion you can see if you hold your ring a certain way - you know its yours!

9. Diamonds quadruple in price as they double in carat weight. 2x ct= 4x $'s. So a ring like this one that has 30 or so smaller diamonds looks 2 or 3 times more expensive than it costs.
