Petra Diamonds Recovers Rare 25.5-Carat Blue Diamond

Petra Diamonds announced the recovery of a rare 25.5-carat rough blue diamond at the Cullinan mine in South Africa. The high-quality diamond is considered top color and is among a number of blue diamonds produced--including a 26.6-carat rough stone that yielded a 7.0-carat fancy-vivid blue, internally-flawless polished diamond--since Petra acquired the mine.

2.10-Carat Brown Diamond Found at Arkansas State Park

A lucky diamond hunter found a 2.10-carat brown diamond at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas last week. And the discovery couldn't be any more perfect: the diamond was found by Andrea Murphy, a Gentry, Arkansas resident and April baby, who visited the park to celebrate her 30th birthday.

Birks Rings in Spring with 16-Carat Yellow Diamond

Canadian jeweler Birks is unveiling a rare 16.01-carat yellow diamond ring at its Edmonton location starting this week. Graded natural fancy-intense yellow color and VVS1 clarity, the asscher-cut diamond is set in a platinum pavé halo-style ring. The diamond ring will head to Calgary after the Edmonton showcase.

The Mouawad L’Incomparable Diamond Necklace Sets Guinness World Record

Mouawad's 637-carat L’Incomparable Diamond Necklace has been certified by Guinness World Records as the world's most valuable necklace. Valued at $55 million, the necklace features the Incomparable Diamond, a 407.48-carat modified shield step-cut yellow diamond that is the largest internally flawless diamond in the world. The necklace is comprised of 91 diamonds, including 229.52 carats of white diamonds set in 18k rose gold.

Lucara Recovers 239-Carat Diamond in Botswana

Lucara Diamond Corp., a new diamond producer which unearthed a rare 9.46-carat blue diamond late last year, has announced the recovery of a 239.20-carat rough diamond from its Karowe Mine in Botswana. The massive diamond was found along with two other large diamonds weighing 124 and 71.1 carats. The stones will be sent to Antwerp for analysis and then offered for sale later in the year.

Valued at $1 million, the size 37 (U.S. 6) peep-toe pumps are completely covered with a glittering surface of 11,000 diamonds. The shoes were adorned by Crystal Heels, a company known for their bejeweled shoes hand-strassed with Swarovski crystals.
