Nice to hear that, Josefine!

I hope that they''ll send you a raply.

Victoria was Crown Princess of Sweden for two years, are you sure that the picture is showing her as CPss?
I have this photo of young Victoria wearing the necklace, her fringe tiara and a large diamond brooch. Do you know what happened with it (brooch)?

My mistake - Victoria was Crown Princess of Sweden & Norway for 24 years, then two wears of Sweden solely. That makes a total of 26 years.

I''m not sure that these are *rules* but merely tradition...

I don''t think that the Baden Fringe Tiara has been regarded as "the crown princess tiara" before HKH CP Victoria Bernadotte started using it and I don''t think that the Cameo Tiara was regarded as "the wedding tiara" before Silvia used it on her wedding day. But I DO think that the Braganza/Braganca has always been regarded as "the queens tiara" - it''s so huge that it woud be impossible for anyone else to wear it, and I do think that the Leuchtenberg Saphires has always been regarded as jewels that has to be worn by someone quite prominent. The "first lady" thing might be a tradition that has become almost a rule...

(Silvia seems to hold on tighter to the jewellery than anyone before her; I don''t think that the nine prong tiara or the cameo has been used by anyone else than her since she became queen either... not to mention the pink topazes... and she seems very reluctant to let anyone else use the Connaught forget-me-not-tiara, even though Madeleine and Victoria has used the pendants in a simple chain as a necklace and I know that Princess Christina, mrs Magnusson, has used it on at least one Nobel Prize Cermony...)

Yes, Robin , I agree with you. I have few remarks, though.

1) Apart from the NP Ceremonies, The Connaught forget-me-not tiara was used by one of the King''s sisters at her wedding (again Christina I think). Some years later it was the first tiara from the collection that Miss Sommerlath, now Queen Silvia, wore. Maybe that''s why she seems reluctant to let anyone use it. However, Princess Lilian wore it at least once when Bertil was still alive.

2) The pink topaz parure was used by Queen Silvia for her first official photograph as Queen of Sweden. Have we seen the pature or parts of it on anyone else''s neck, apart of Queens and Princess Sibylla?

3) The Nine Priong tiara was also worn by Lilian.

Here is the picture of Lilian wearing the Connaught Tiara:

Darn! There goes my theory!

I had no idee that Lillian had used the Connaught and the nine prong tiara! Total news to me! Why would she even consider using the horrible six-button-tiara when those where available?!
Is it just her daughters that are denied the use of the grander jewels then?

Princess Madeleine wearing the diamond drops of the Connaught forget-me-not-tiara as pendants of her necklace. Also the Carl XVI Gustaf fringe tiara.

I know it's almost impossible to see, but isn't princess Desiree wearing the pink topazes? (The gala night at the opera at the time of the marrige of the King and the Queen Silvia.)

A little bit late, but...

20 years ago on 15 September 1989, HRH The Prince of Preslav, second son of Simeon II & Margarita of Bulgaria, married Doña Maria del Rosario Nadal in Palma de Mallorca. The bride's tiara was (according to The Royal Forums) a gift from Ferdinand I of Bulgaria to his first wife Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon Parma. Her diamond earrings were a present from her parents-in-law.

A picture of the (still) happy couple:

An extract from an official photo of the exiled Tsar and his mother Tsaritsa Ioanna of Bulgaria (nee Savoy) wearing the tiara from my previous post. We can also see The Queen Mother of Bulgaria wearing two rivieres, long diamond earrings, a devant-de-corsage and some cluster brooches. I''m not sure, but maybe the pear-shaped pendants hanging from the longer necklace have a ruby in the middle. Same for her bracelet.

Hi, Josefine!
Which brooches do you define as ''larger''?

Here are some from my files -

This brooch is sometimes worn by The Queen. I''ve also seen it as part of a stomacher worn by Queen Victoria:
