Thanks Gwen.
BIH - there''s nothing new yet. As you said he called in sick, and he cancelled an event he was supposed to host on Thursday night too. Feeling sick/indigestion type symptoms are typical preludes to a heart attack. That would be the most obvious - he was a man who loved his food and wine! It''s just so strange yanno...he was a real institution here. As my mum said, you''d nearly feel like going to his funeral even though you didn''t actually know him. It''s awfully sad. |

I am sorry for his family''s loss. I disapproved of his radio programmes which to me prayed on sensationilising the minority to an eager audience who failed to show compassion. He offered an opinionated stance which fed the masses. To me, he represented a side of Ireland which has become very ugly; part of the "I''m ok" society; (sod the rest of them as me and mine are ok). I know he had a loyal following in Ireland and I do not wish to offend them but it follows then that I find I do not get along with many in this country. With so many public sector workers struggling to keep their homes despite continual pay cuts, he was in a position to keep his €600,000+ paycheck and his opinions. Yes I am commenting on the public person, after all isn''t that what we knew of him? |
