What an AWESOME thread!!! Jeesh! Well ... I am 41 so I have a ton of favs. My wedding tune was by Lionel Richie... ''My Love''.

Sir John... you play Drums? Incredible. I was a lead singer in 2 bands during my high school years. Grew up on the Beatles but have a pretty well rounded appreciation for all music. There is only one genre however that reaches down into my soul and stirs me like no other and those are alot of the songs that strmrdr had posted lyrics to. Songs sang to and written for our wonderful Creator. Thank you for posting those strmrdr, just reading those lyrics makes we well up inside. The church I attend primarily sings praise & worship songs but I do love the hymms as well. We will see your mom again. My dad passed in 98 as well and it will be a grand reunion.

Peace,
Rhino
grew up on the Beatles ? you''re old but not that old
9.gif
i remember listening to... a hard day''s night, i should have know better,(in 1965) when i was still in H.K. and i was 6 yrs old....your beatles songs it''s more like "let it be", "something", "get back" 1969 ?

Strm, I''m so sorry. I know you must miss her a lot. My dad passed in ''95 and I still miss him too. Like Rhino said, you''ll see her again. You *know* goodbye is not forever.

Ain''t No Mountain High Enough~Diana Ross & the Supremes

Gosh I was such a Motown fan. Loved going to Studebaker''s and watching the waitresses dance on the tables and doing the Hokey Pokey.

Was it like that at all the Studebakers?

Peace,

Too cool.

Now all we need is lead, bass and a chord strummer (or keyboard if we want to do post-David Lee Roth VH) and we can form the PriceScope Rock-ers!

First Beatles tune we learn for Rhino...

''Lucy In The Sky... With Diamonds,'' of course!
36.gif
i''d like to audition for chord strummer!

JQ..I love Beth by KISS. We have a dvd set of KISS when they played with the Melbourne Symphony in Australia. It was amazing!! Oh, and the entire orchesra had their faces painted up as one of the KISS members. It is really an awesome set.
9.gif
It was pretty cool seeing a violinist painted up like Gene Simmons
4.gif

Peter Criss was huge in my inspiration to become a drummer. I was in Junior High. All my friends wanted to be Gene Simmons. I took the road less traveled... [''and that has made all the difference'']
oh BETH what can i do....only song i know from kiss

I had to chime in with:
First up songs we sing for our fur children! They love singing!

Moon River, my husband and I would sing this to our "precious" fur child all the time! My fav. song. In the summer I would think the neighbors would hear and think we are nuts, knowing we didn't remember all of the lyrics and would wing it as we went!

When the Red Red Robbin comes Bob Bob Bobbing along by Harry Woods 1926. My husband thought of this one and it has been a regular tune in our home since we adopted our little Tootsie about a year ago! I sing it so much that my parents sing it when they watched Tootsie and her sis while I shopped the day after Thanksgiving sale, and when they told me, I could not stop laughing....These pets are definitely spoiled............

Mama's Little Baby Loves Shortening Bread not sure the correct name of the song, husband thought of this one and I must admit they get really excited to hear it!

Will learn *Toot, Toot, Tootsie Goo'bye*by Al Jolson ( for her name!)

My Favorites: no particular order

Moon River, Andy Williams
Can't get used to losing you, Andy Williams
Diana Ross songs
The Weight
by The Band,
Baby its cold outside ,Dean Martin and other versions
Promises Eric Clapton
Up on Cripple Creek, The Band
The rain the park and other things by Cowsills
Whiter shade of pale
Miracles
Jefferson Starship and the version by RES.
They long to be close to you, Karen Carpenter
American Woman, Guess Who
Wichita Lineman, Glenn Campbell
mostly anything 70s, southern rock, etc.

Peter Criss is probably my favorite. I think it''s pretty cool how you see drummers in other bands and they look like they''re going to burst something vital but when you watch Peter Criss play he can be playing something really fast but he just sits there and looks so relaxed.

Yes it will be a grand reunion :}
The songs I posted with links to the mp3s are ones that we sing a lot at my Church.
I listen to Christian rock in my car because no matter what is going on in the day its a reminder that He is in control and all is ok.
To be honest its the old hymns that stir my soul the most :}
I grew up on them and the classic hymns have survived the biggest test of all.. time.
A test we all fail but thru our Lord conquer in the end.

Don''t you just love it?? It''s kind of like the song Beth. It''s hard to believe something so nice came from a hard rock band. Very unexpected.

40.gif
But if I were to have songs that did bring back memories it would have been that band's songs.

I have way too many songs

Oh this thread is fun... I want to play....

At the time my fiance and I started dating, I was listening to Van Morrison's Moondance album religiously. So that always reminds me of him. But if I had to pick one song off of it, it would definitely be Into the Mystic. "I want to rock your gypsy soul..." Melt.
30.gif

Since then, much less "mushy" songs remind me of him... David Allan Cole's You Never Even Called Me By Name comes to mind. As does Lyle Lovett's L.A. County. And Bob Dylan's Tangled Up in Blue. And any Christmas carol. (The best thing about my boy is that he loves Christmas more than anyone else in the world. He's my own personal Santa. It's infectious.) Guns N Roses' Patience always reminds me of the all important waiting-for-the-proposal phase of our relationship.

Long before we got engaged, we talked about dancing the aforementioned David Allan Cole song or Poison's Every Rose Has Its Thorn because only a highly inappropriate song would mean that none of our friends would dance to it as well. But as the date approaches, he is chickening out on that matter. So now it looks like it will be something along the lines of Van Morrison's Tupelo Honey or The Beatles' In This Life. I'm sure all those songs will continue to make me think of him in the future.

Other albums that have defined important periods in my life...
Paul Simon's Graceland
Led Zeppelin II

You and me ain''t no super stars.
What we are is what we are.
We share a bed,
some popcorn,
and TV, yeah.
And that''s enough for a workin'' man.
What I am is what I am.
And I tell you, babe,
you''re just enough for me.

I think that it really is a very sweet song

I like In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida too.....I've heard that he was a bit "out of it" when he was singing this song and it was originally meant to be "In The Garden of Eden" which would make more sense, lol.

Wow, you''re right that you do a lot. I''ve never been to the grand canyon or the marron bells (where is that?). I''ve also never been skydiving (afraid of flying), scuba diving (sharks!), kayaking (lots of rocks that can crack my head open) or mountain biking (I''d be huffin'' and puffin five seconds into it)...and OUCH at the collar bone.
8.gif
I''ve never had a broken bone, knock on wood, and I can only imagine how painful that would be.

Wow, after reading my reply I sure do sound like a whimp.
7.gif
Really, I''m not a stick in the mud or anything like that. I do like to travel and go hiking in the mountains. There''s a very pretty trail in the Blue Ridge Mountains here in NC where at the end of the trail you''re standing on a cliff looking out at Grandfather Mnt. and one wrong slip and "OOPS"..it''s a loooooong way down.

I can sometimes play along on my flute when I have a Galway cd in. Very relaxing.
