1. Come, ye thankful people, come,
raise the song of harvest home;
all is safely gathered in,
ere the winter storms begin.
God our Maker doth provide
for our wants to be supplied;
come to God''s own temple, come,
raise the song of harvest home.

2. All the world is God''s own field,
fruit as praise to God we yield;
wheat and tares together sown
are to joy or sorrow grown;
first the blade and then the ear,
then the full corn shall appear;
Lord of harvest, grant that we
wholesome grain and pure may be.

3. For the Lord our God shall come,
and shall take the harvest home;
from the field shall in that day
all offenses purge away,
giving angels charge at last
in the fire the tares to cast;
but the fruitful ears to store
in the garner evermore.

4. Even so, Lord, quickly come,
bring thy final harvest home;
gather thou thy people in,
free from sorrow, free from sin,
there, forever purified,
in thy presence to abide;
come, with all thine angels, come,
raise the glorious harvest home.

Christian P&W music on CDs is about all I enjoy listening to these days. Except when I do listen to the radio I''m on the oldies (mostly 70s/80s) station (the owner is my age so his taste in music is right up my alley and in line with much on this thread

, or the country or Hawaiian music station. The modern music does nothing for me.

Your mom must already have Amy Grant''s "Legacy" CD. It has a few of the hymns you listed. If not, I suggest getting it for her as a gift. She will love you for it, guarantee.

John,
The way I look at it is turning 40 is better than not turning 40.
2.gif
I for one don''t want to die young and leave a good looking corpse! Life is pretty good now at 40 I must say. It''s all how you look at it. That said:

One box of Miss Clairol Loving Care haircolor $7.00
One tube of Olay Regenerist anti-aging cream $17.00
One pair of no line bi-focals $300

Using all three and having people tell me I only look about 32--priceless!!
9.gif

I never said I was aging gracefully--I''m fighting it all the way!!
okay im feeling better pear crazy-------------im a 32 looking 39

Bee Gees--How Deep Is Your Love?
Chicago--You''re the Inspiration
Faith Hill--Breath
Lonestar--Amazed

Isn''t is amazing how songs take on an entirely different meaning when you share them with the right person?

This is one of my favorites in Christian rock.

Waterfall
My soul thirsts for you, my soul thirsts for you
Like a dry land, like a dry land cries out for rain
My soul thirsts for you, my soul thirsts for you
Like a dry land, like a dry land cries out

Open heaven, pour down your Spirit
Like a waterfall (x4)

I need more of you, I need more of you
Fill me Lord, fill me, with your Spirit, Lord
I need more of you, I need more of you
Fill me Lord, fill me, with your Spirit

I will lift up the name of the Lord

I will lift up the name of the Lord
I will lift up the name of the Lord
I will lift up the name of the one who lifted me
He took my feet from the slippery clay
Set them on a solid rock to stay
I will lift up the name of the one who lifted me

Oh I praise you, Jesus
For you always hear my cry
Every day that you give me breath
I’m gonna lift your name on high

I reach up high
I reach up high, I touch the ground
I stomp my feet and I turn around
I''ve got to praise the Lord
I jump and dance with all my might
I might look funny but that''s alright
I''ve got to praise the Lord

I''ll do anything just for my God
Cos he''s done everything for me
It doesn''t matter who is looking on
Jesus is the person that I want to please

May my whole life be a song of praise
To worship God in every way
In this song the actions praise his name
I want my actions every day to do the same

Love rain down
Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain
Let it rain on every nation (x2)

Take our hearts as fuel for the fire
Now is the time to see your power
Take our prayers as abundant rain
Open up the floodgates of heaven
Let the trumpet sound and the rain come down

Love rain down, down on me (x3)

Let there be a new hope for the desperate
Let there be a new song among the people
Won''t you hear our cry, O Lord
Open up the floodgates of heaven
Let the trumpet sound and the rain come down

Todd Agnew Grace Like Rain

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I''m found
Was blind but now I see so clearly
Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away
''Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
Chorus
When we''ve been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We''ve no less days to sing Your praise
Than when we first begun
Chorus
Chorus

There are so many different sounds making me remember different things, I just can''t keep track!! The most recent big event in my life was my military deployment, there were so many songs and records that kept me going, most notably:
Fallen - Evanenscense
All U2 albums, especially the Greatest Hits 1990-2000
Nelly Furtado
No Doubt
Sarah Maclachlan
Korn
and many more ( I have a pretty wide taste in music)

although, the no. 1 song that reminds me of the deployment and people I went with is "In Da Club" by Fifty Cent
20.gif
I don''t know why, but when this song would come on, everyone would go nuts and dance like we were ''in da club'' even though we were in a tent in the desert

This thread is too funny! I''m a music therapist, so I am always interested in the emotional reactions that we get when we listen to music. I''m 32 so any "hair band" brings back memories of high school. Esp. Bon Jovi''s, "Never Say Goodbye". I went to a sort of hippie college, so even though grunge was big, I mostly remember the Grateful dead, Brown eyed girl, Janis Joplin, etc. Anytime I hear new wave/early 80''s songs (tainted love by soft cell), I immediately become that chubby junior high cheerleader. LOL...there''s too many songs to list, but certainly music has a profound impact on all our lives.

WHY CAN''T THIS BE LOVE
Van Halen

OH HERE IT COMES
THAT FUNNY FEELIN AGAIN WINDING
ME UP INSIDE
EVERY TIME WE TOUCH
HEY I DON''T KNOW
JUST TELL ME WHERE TO BEGIN
CAUSE I NEVER EVER
FELT SO MUCH

NO I CAN''T RECALL ANY LOVE AT ALL
BABY THIS BLOWS ''EM ALL AWAY

IT''S GOT WHAT IT TAKES
SO TELL ME WHY CAN''T THIS BE LOVE
STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART OH TELL
ME WHY
CAN''T THIS BE LOVE

I TELL MYSELF
HEY ONLY FOOLS RUSH IN
ONLY TIME WILL TELL
IF WE STAND THE TEST OF TIME
ALL I KNOW
YOU''VE GOT TO RUN TO WIN
I''LL BE DAMNED IF I''LL GET
HUNG UP ON THE LINE

NO I CAN''T RECALL ANY THING AT ALL
BABY THIS BLOWS ''EM ALL AWAY

IT''S GOT WHAT IT TAKES
SO TELL ME WHY CAN''T THIS BE LOVE
STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART OH TELL
ME WHY
CAN''T THIS BE LOVE

SOLO

IT''S GOT WHAT IT TAKES
SO TELL ME WHY CAN''T THIS BE LOVE
STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART OH TELL
ME WHY
CAN''T THIS BE LOVE
TELL ME WHY CAN''T THIS BE LOVE
BABY WHY CAN''T THIS BE LOVE
GOT TO KNOW WHY CAN''T THIS
BE LOVE
I WANNA KNOW WHY CAN''T THIS
BE LOVE

Sweet Child O'' Mine
Guns N Roses
(Appetite For Destruction)

She''s got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that
special place
And if I stared too long
I''d probably break down and cry

Sweet child o'' mine
Sweet love of mine

She''s got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me
of a warm safe place
Where as a child I''d hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by

Sweet child o'' mine
Sweet love of mine

Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o'' mine

It was the #1 song of the year on MTV on NewYear''s 1988/89. That was when my husband and I were first dating. Thanks for the reminder!

Peter Criss was huge in my inspiration to become a drummer. I was in Junior High. All my friends wanted to be Gene Simmons. I took the road less traveled... ["and that has made all the difference"]

What an AWESOME thread!!! Jeesh! Well ... I am 41 so I have a ton of favs. My wedding tune was by Lionel Richie... "My Love".

Sir John... you play Drums? Incredible. I was a lead singer in 2 bands during my high school years. Grew up on the Beatles but have a pretty well rounded appreciation for all music. There is only one genre however that reaches down into my soul and stirs me like no other and those are alot of the songs that strmrdr had posted lyrics to. Songs sang to and written for our wonderful Creator. Thank you for posting those strmrdr, just reading those lyrics makes we well up inside. The church I attend primarily sings praise & worship songs but I do love the hymms as well. We will see your mom again. My dad passed in 98 as well and it will be a grand reunion.

Peace,

Peace,

Too cool.

Now all we need is lead, bass and a chord strummer (or keyboard if we want to do post-David Lee Roth VH) and we can form the PriceScope Rock-ers!

First Beatles tune we learn for Rhino...

"Lucy In The Sky... With Diamonds," of course!
