First of all, I'm sorry I shouldn't be laughing.... but how did you burn your FOREHEAD? I'm sorry. Hope you're getting better.

That's kind of weird. Did the youngest daughter explain why it is her fault?

I don't think they are anything else you can do. They are obviously avoiding you... or they're really busy?

I was browning some chicken breast in olive oil (making a chicken & rice dish) and a piece slipped as I was turning it and the oil splashed. Splattered all over my face. Mostly just little spots that went away in a couple of hours but there was a big spot on my forehead and one just over my lip that blistered. :knockout:

The one on my forehead just flaked off again and is finally almost normal looking again.

I laughed too once the initial pain stopped :cheeky:
How I managed to drop it that hard I don't really know...

hahaha... one time I was baking stuff. I didn't open the oven door all the way before taking the stuff out. STUPID! My arm touched the side of the oven. It HURTS SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! It smells bad and I got a black line (2 inches long) on my arm. At the time, my EX was beside me. He didn't say anything much. He just stood there. That's why he's an ex.

One time I was chopping stuff. I was like "ouch", 'cuz I ALMOST cut myself. My bf ran into the kitchen and was like all worried... "OMG what's wrong... are you ok???" That's why he's a keeper.

chicken in olive oil. Sounds good. Is it easy to make?

Sweet bf!

Glad I'm not the only person to say "ouch" for almost cutting myself. :cheeky:

The chicken is yummy. Not too hard to make.

chicken pieces (I like boneless skinnless, but anything is fine)
olive oil for browning
diced onion (I use anywhere from 1-3 onions)
minced garlic (3-8 cloves)
diced red pepper (1 or 2)
rice (I use 3 cups so there are leftovers)
water (1 1/2 cups per 2 cups basmati -- adjust for whatever rice you use)
fine chopped parsley (handful or two)
small pinch saffron (I've done without and it was fine, but the color is better this way)
green olives (optional -- but yummy with a few)
gandulas (optional -- but yummy)
pinch of salt (to taste -- if I use olives I skip the salt)

Brown the chicken in olive oil (use a big pot that will hold everything) and set aside. Add onions to hot oil (med - med/high heat) and let soften a bit. Add red peppers and let them go until onions are starting to brown. Add garlic. Add water after just a few seconds so garlic doesn't burn. Add saffron and salt. Bring to a boil. Add rice, parsley, olives, gandulas and chicken. Give a stir to cover everything in water.
Cover pot and put in oven (375 degrees or so). Cook until rice is done (water should be all absorbed) and chicken is at temp. (about 30-40 min)

too...i am so sorry about your forehead. I know what its like to burn the head.I do it almost everytime i curl my hair. I am sorry, you would they would have called by now. Also, that chicken sounds soo good. Hmmm, tat what might be whats for dinner on sunday. Also, i think its rude of them to not email back. Seriously, how long does it take to respond back to an email....if anything, a simple thank you would be nice for you to get back. Gggrrrr..i HATE rude people. I really do. Dont get me started on that.

Beezy- I know what you mean when you said your father just said go get another. My mom has the same attitude about my cats. For my skin i usually use noxema after a workout and than clean and clear int he morning and night with a toner. Than when i have that stuff from B&BB, i use that. I know about the good skin, but occasinonal break outs. I get them like once a week, but they clear up easy. Also, that SO sounds like a keeper. Mine does the same thing, and hell come and just take whatever it is away from me. Im so accident-prone, im sure he feels like he should put a helmet on me and some pads around my body. LoL....Im sorry about your ex, and once again thats why they are ex's.

Also dont worry about the proposal. It will happen in time, and you want the sweetest proposal ever, so let him plan, silly.

See you ladies tomorrow. Have a good evening.

I'm heading home for some cleaning and dinner cooking.

OOOooo. Plus I'm making pudding. I do a vanilla bean and a chocolate pudding and serve together. Mmmm. (and soy so we don't get sick!)

omg... my bf said I'm a walking accident waiting to happen. I am clumsy. I run into walls 'cuz I didn't see them and I have been living in the house forever! It's funny... but it's me.

How do you like Noxzema?

Today is my fourth day using Noxzema! I dunno if it's in my head, but it seems like my skin is smoother and the little pimples are going away faster. With makeup on, my face looks almost flawless. =)

gonna teach soon! We'll talk later.

Morning ladies! :wavey:

It is FRIDAY!!!!

I was tired yesterday and didn't get a chance to make the pudding last night so I made it this morning before work. It was still a little warm when we ate it, but set up nicely. I served with sliced banana to the side (can't mess up the pretty chocolate & vanilla swirl :)). The vanilla bean pudding is really vanilla-y (should be since I used 2 whole beans) and the chocolate is rich and creamy (Scharfenberger 70% & 99%). They balance soooo nice.

Not the healthiest breakfast but yummy (and IT'S FRIDAY!!!)

From about.com:

See my modifications below recipe.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

•2/3 cup granulated sugar
•3 tablespoons cornstarch
•pinch salt
•2 1/2 cups milk, 2% is okay
•1/3 cup heavy cream
•2 large egg yolks
•1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste or one whole vanilla bean*
•1 tablespoon butter
•toasted flaked coconut or coconut shavings, optional

Preparation:
*If you use a vanilla bean in this pudding, split it lengthwise, scrape out seeds, and add the seeds and beans pan along with the milk. If using vanilla paste, add along with the butter.
In a saucepan, stir together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt until well blended. Whisk in the milk and vanilla bean and seeds, if using a whole vanilla bean.

Put the pan over medium low heat and heat until almost simmering.

In a large cup or bowl, whisk the egg yolks with heavy cream. Whisk about 1 cup of the hot milk mixture into the eggs, then pour the egg mixture into the saucepan, stirring to blend. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins boil. Continue cooking, whisking constantly, for 1 minute.

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla paste, if using. If using the whole bean, remove the pieces of bean. Stir in butter. Pour into a bowl and let the mixture cool for about 20 minutes, stirring frequently, then press a piece of plastic wrap over the surface of the pudding to keep air from forming a skin. Chill and serve with toasted coconut, if desired.

Serves 4 to 6.

Cook time is actually closer to 40 minutes. (using med-high heat to warm cold milk takes a bit)
I use soy instead of 2% and cream. Turns out just fine.
Be super careful to temper the eggs properly. (beat egg yolks in a little bowl and slowly whisk in about 1 cup of the almost simmering mixture before gradually whisking into the pan)
DO NOT turn the heat up. It takes awhile to heat but if you think the burner is too cool on med-low heat and turn it up "just a little" you will wind up with pudding sticking to the bottom of the pan. After it comes to a low boil, I usaully cook for 2-3 minutes so that it is a bit thicker.

I sometimes reduce the sugar for a slightly less sweet pudding.

For chocolate:
I used 1oz. 70% and 1oz. 99% finely chopped (almost flaked as I was cutting). When milk (or soy) is warm enough to start melting chocolate, stir it into the pan. When chocolate has melted completely and is almost boiling, temper eggs as above and follow recipe as written from there.
I usually do only 1/2 a vanilla bean for this one, but 1 vanilla bean is fine too.

BG -- bf working all weekend is no fun. Maybe you can surprise him by showing up with a picnic lunch to eat together. He may be working but he's still got to eat.

BG...i am so sorry hon. It sucks when the SO has to work on the weekends. I was thinking along the lines of Too, maybe drop off a lunch to him, something sweet. Than you can go to the movies and pig out on popcorn and candy...hehehe

Too- thanks, that sounds soo yummy. Hmmmm, i might attempt this tommorow morning while SO is at work, than sneak some into movies...hehe, im so bad i know.

So the SO is still acting fishy. He did admit to me he was worried about money, so maybe thats just it. We dont overspend though, and pay all bills before anything else so i dunno.

Okay, side note......i think ive explained how we have choosen to build a balcony onto the house...well we started this project the first week of june. JUNE...they said it would be 3 to 4 weeks TOPS. Well here we are 6 weeks into it, our house and backyard is a mess! We have plaster all in the house, have had to get the pool professionally clean. Last week after speaking to the supervisor he said it would be done this week no questions. Well i just spoke with the girl in scedhuling( dont get me started on that witch with a b) and now, the very last two things we have to get done, WONT be planned until next week. Tuesday at 7 am, the electrican will be out to finish up his, and than the stairs wont be ready until thursday at the earliest. Is it just me, or is this not okay. The company hasnt let us in on whats going on so we can plan according, and they dont return phone calls. I am so frustrated, that i dont know what to do. My poor dogs can go through the doggie door to go pee half the time, because the workers are there. I just dont know what to do or say at this point.

Like i said, our backyard is a mess, they have destroyed some plants we have( cactus, and its damn hard to kill those), broken some stepping stones. We cleaned the pool for over 3 hours one day, just to have them come back and have more crap in it. We have a cleaner now who comes out, but due to the construction workers carelessness, and lack of thinking( NO, they didnt cover the pool before working) we need a acid wash. Which means drainging the pool, the guy acid washing it, refilling the pool....thats going to cost close to $1500...

What would you ladies do. The SO and i are at our witts end with this. O and now we cant entertain because the cleaning we were going to do is useless since they ahve to come out next week and wreck the yard again.

Could he be worried about money as he is planning the proposal? Maybe he is taking you on a surprise weekend trip or something.
FI admitted to me that he was worried (before and especially after the proposal) about how we'll be able to budget for the wedding we both want. (This part we talked about and I showed him how with x, x, and x bills that will be ending on set dates that the money that we've been paying to them will pay for a large portion of the budget we've been talking about. He has relaxed a bit since then.)

Could it be something like that?

Too...i dont know. It might be. I think he is just overall stressed, and maybe im looking too deeply. I will admit, i know nothing of the proposal or of the ring. When it happens, and ive been told before the end of the year, it will be a completely surpise. EVERY detail...

We ladies also look too deep. We're born with this ability. I'm sorry about your place. Maybe your SO is stressed about the place?

Since my mom is away, my bf is pretty much here all the time. He will work from MY place. Oh well. Good idea about the surprise. I just really want to do something fun!

I don't know what to say. Are they charging a flat price (or at least honoring their estimate)? If they are charging hourly for this mess you should get a DETAILED report of what the charges are and WHY.

You are so close to done. If it were me, I'd hate to fire them and have to start all over with someone else. But I'd also hate to have it drag on for another week or two or....

Is there any way to have another contractor out to look at their work and at least verify that it is quality work? If it is, you might let them keep going or you could have the other contractor finish it up in a day. If they are this unorganized and unprofessional (not covering the pool, breaking stuff, being this far behind schedule...) I think you want to have their work inspected to be sure your balcony is safe.

It is nice that you will get to be together even if he is working. FI has to do that sometimes and I make a nice luch, bring him fresh iced tea, and clean up the house. If the house is clean and everything else is taken care of (grocery shopping, oil change, etc.) , you'll be able to have fun together when he is done.
And you always have the option of serving lunch wearing something little (or nothing at all :naughty: )

Thank you ladies...

Bg- Yes, we do look too much. *Sigh* Im giving up on looking....hopefully i can stay this patient till it happens. HeHe, i like Too's advice of making a lunch and wearing something he will like. I wish i could take/make lunch for my SO, but he is strapped done to his chair since he is the only one on duty who can do his job. He usually doesnt even take a lunch.

Too- Thank you so much Hon. No, they are not charging a flat rate per hour or day. If that were the case, i would find someone else who could. Like you said, its just so close to finishing up, another day of work really and its done. I dont see why they are dragging it. Im praying and hoping they dont drag it out another 2 weeks, instead of the one week like planned. I was really hoping to entertain this weekend, espically since our one friend is going in for the weight-loss surgery and its last weekend to eat normal. He really likes my cooking. I am going to see if someone else, another company can come out and make sure that is done properly, even though im sure its okay. The county inspector comes and inscepts and signs off once he feels that something is safe, but its still a good idea. I know that the inspector didnt sign off on something a few weeks ago, and they had to come back that same day and fix it there in front of him. Also, the SO and i WILL be talking to the site manager about possibly getting a discount on the final payment since they did so much damage to the backyard and we have to pay now to have the pool drained. The final payment will just cover the acid wash. We also have to buy new plants, have the landscaping company come back out, replant, and get new solar lights, since they just stepped all over them. Its just terrible, i feel so bad, ebcause the SO and i choose this company together, but i felt more comfortable with the sales guy from the company we choose now, compared to the other company. ( also it was cheaper), maybe we should have went with the other one, we might not be in this situation. :blackeye: ;(

Talk to them. Don't fire them. Try not to be angry even though you have every right to be. I'm sure they'll have to finish it and fix everything to make you guys happy. CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

Clean house :appl:

HOT? weather or just the exercise?

ETA: I'm freezing right now. The maintenence guy turned the temp down on the air unit and it's been blowing freezing air on me for the last 3 hours. It is also cloudy outside.

Hot from vacuuming! Mom is coming back on Sunday. Gonna clean the house to welcome her. Also, I don't need to teach until later so, might as well make myself useful.

Jessie will envy that you're freezing right now. I'm sure she wants to be freezing, not melting.

BG -- that is so sweet. I love coming home to a clean house. (of course to do that, I have to clean it before we leave...)

Jessie -- Trade you. I'd rather be hot all day then going from frozen outside to 70+ and back again. It was so bad in here last summer I had to wear wool sweaters to work when it was 75+ outside.

Going home early sounds GREAT. Pampering girly stuff sounds nice too.
It is Friday after all...
