It's really darn cool - but I feel like it's REALLY expensive at that price! I think most cutters would have called that a throwaway stone  Since it's so hard,I think it would look neat in something like this https://commonera.com/products/true-heirloom-ring. Makes me think of an ancient intaglio

Yeah I agree about price. I think I'm going to pass because honestly even though it's unique I don't think over 2k is fair.

@lovedogs while I love the colors of the sapphire, I can't really make out a phoenix? If it were evident to me as a phoenix and not just a beautifully and wildly colored stone, I would absolutely be willing to pay that price!

But that is just an excuse to reply and say thank you so much for reviving this thread - I was just thinking about doing so the other day!

Was there a stone that caught your eye to post here? :)

Wow, I actually really Love the look of the stone! Some people don’t like that type of zoning, but I actually really love it.

I don’t mind it either :). I also have found in the past that sometimes zoning is less obvious to the naked eye (got talked out of a really nice stone because of this, still regret it 10 or so years later!)

I love these, plus they could double as a weapon.

680$
18K Yellow Gold
Red Spinel Mogok, Burma 1.5 ct / 8 pcs
Size: 5(49), 5.5(50) and 6(51)

Difficult for me to judge the fairness of price without more info (spinel quality + I don't see a 18k hallmark). But if it is what it seems to be, its interesting enough to share.

They have them in sapphires too but the spinel ones are in the style of antique jewellery made in Mogok like this, which is what I found special:

I love such upside down and pokey setting. It reminds me of this one.

I did my best to arrange a playdate for my spinel from Tanaiza with the bangle, but...
