Some of my loose gemstones - Part 2: Barry Gems

Hi Ladies,

Here''s my collection of gems cut by Barry. I will first post the picture from Barry followed by pictures taken by me. The first one is a 5.46ct round Namibian blue green tourmaline that he cut 10 years ago. The pictures don''t do the actual stone justice.

Next up is a 2.96ct 9mm Mozambique round blue green tourmaline..

Next up is a 2.83 9mm Mozambique blue green tourmaline. This one is lighter in colour and there is a very very slight hint of grey on it.

Coming up is a 2.44ct yellowish green tourmaline from Congo..

A 6.31ct emerald cut blue green tourmaline from Mozambique..

These are my pictures. I think my fingers had some lint or little pieces of cotton wool on it and it shows up on the tourmaline. The tourmaline is very clean and the bits you see are not inclusions.

Next is a darker bluish green (teal in some lighting) Namibian tourmaline, 1.67ct..

Next up is a 2.62ct cushion cut Mozambique greenish blue tourmaline. There''s some grey in real life and apparently if you heat this stone, you can get an electric green colour out of it.

The last blue green tourmaline I have is an emerald cut 2.78ct pretty from Namibia..

This tourmaline is really hard to photograph. The ends keep coming out looking very dark. In real life, it is a little darker than the centre, the c-axis is not closed. The bits you see are the bits of cotton wool on my fingers, the stone itself has little or no inclusions.

Next up, a 1.32ct Tanga garnet..

An emerald cut Tanga garnet, 2.24ct from Tanzania..

Next, a 1.08ct spessartite..

My pictures came up with more brown than it really is. Barry''s picture above is closer to the actual colour.
